If a matrix .4 transforms a sequence {z„} into the sequence {z, A is said to be regular. The well known necessary and sufficient conditions for A to be regular are1 (a) X^-i |g»,*| Wo, (b) limn^oo an,k = 0 for every fixed fe, (c) XXi a»j»«A»—»1 as w-»°o. It is known2 that if a regular matrix s...

Regular chest physiotherapy is advocated in non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis despite little evidence supporting its routine use. This study aimed to establish the efficacy of regular chest physiotherapy in non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis compared with no regular chest physiotherapy. 20 patients not practising regular chest physiotherapy were enrolled in a randomised crossover trial of 3 mo...

HYPOTHESIS Minimally invasive correction of pectus excavatum (PE) deformities of the anterior chest wall in children is safe and effective. DESIGN Prospective cohort study. SETTING Tertiary pediatric referral center. PATIENTS Between February 1996 and July 2000, 36 patients underwent minimally invasive repair (MIR) of PE deformities, and 6 patients had traditional Ravitch repairs (RR). ...

Let $R$ be an associative ring with identity. An element $x in R$ is called $mathbb{Z}G$-regular (resp. strongly $mathbb{Z}G$-regular) if there exist $g in G$, $n in mathbb{Z}$ and $r in R$ such that $x^{ng}=x^{ng}rx^{ng}$ (resp. $x^{ng}=x^{(n+1)g}$). A ring $R$ is called $mathbb{Z}G$-regular (resp. strongly $mathbb{Z}G$-regular) if every element of $R$ is $mathbb{Z}G$-regular (resp. strongly $...

In this paper, the concept of k-regular fuzzy matrix as a general- ization of regular matrix is introduced and some basic properties of a k-regular fuzzy matrix are derived. This leads to the characterization of a matrix for which the regularity index and the index are identical. Further the relation between regular, k-regular and regularity of powers of fuzzy matrices are dis- cussed.

We prove that there exist a dimension group G whose positive cone is not isomorphic to the dimension monoid DimL of any lattice L. The dimension group G has an order-unit, and can be taken of any cardinality greater than or equal to א2. As to determining the positive cones of dimension groups in the range of the Dim functor, the א2 bound is optimal. This solves negatively the problem, raised by...

We assessed how often bedside stethoscopes in our intensive care unit were cleaned and whether they became colonised with potentially pathogenic bacteria. On two separate days the 12 nurses attending the bedspaces were questioned about frequency of stethoscope cleaning on the unit and the bedside stethoscopes were swabbed before and after cleaning to identify colonising organisms. Twenty-two he...

By Seidel’s switching, we construct new strongly regular graphs with parameters (276, 140, 58, 84). In this paper, we simplify the known switching theorem due to Bose and Shrikhande as follows. Let G = (V,E) be a primitive strongly regular graph with parameters (v, k, λ, μ). Let S(G,H) be the graph from G by switching with respect to a nonempty H ⊂ V . Suppose v = 2(k − θ1) where θ1 is the nont...

For n ≥ 3 distinct points in the d-dimensional unit sphere S ⊂ R , there exists a Möbius transformation such that the barycenter of the transformed points is the origin. This Möbius transformation is unique up to post-composition by a rotation. We prove this lemma and apply it to prove the uniqueness part of a representation theorem for 3-dimensional polytopes as claimed by Ziegler (1995): For ...

We establish universality limits for measures on the unit circle. Assume that is a regular measure on the unit circle in the sense of Stahl and Totik, and is absolutely continuous in an open arc containing some point z = e . Assume, moreover, that 0 is positive and continuous at z. Then universality for holds at z, in the sense that the normalized reproducing kernel ~ Kn (z; t) satis…es lim n!1...
