We report a rare case of an extremely large right ventricular myxoma involving the ventricular side of the tricuspid valve. The tumor was excised along with the entire posterior leaflet and part of the anterior leaflet. The tricuspid valve was repaired by sliding valvuloplasty combined with ring annuloplasty.
OBJECTIVES Although right heart failure (RVF) is an important issue in the management of patients with left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), the benefits of performing tricuspid valve repair in conjunction with LVAD implantation have not been demonstrated. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the records of 141 patients who received LVAD implantation as a bridge to transplant from May 1999 ...
The objective of this study was to determine the demographic, clinical and survival characteristics and to identify risk factors for mortality due to tricuspid valve dysplasia in UK dogs. Records of client-owned dogs diagnosed with tricuspid valve dysplasia at a referral centre were retrospectively reviewed. Only dogs diagnosed with tricuspid valve dysplasia based on the presence of a right-sid...
A 55-year-old man with massive pulmonary thromboembolism underwent thrombolysis, pulmonary artery embolectomy and tricuspid annuloplasty. Nine months later, a mobile echogenic intra-cardiac mass was found in the tricuspid valve. Because the patient had undergone annuloplasty, thrombosis was suspected as the most likely diagnosis and thrombolytic therapy was instituted. However, the size of the ...
A case of infective endocarditis of the tricuspid valve is described in a young female patient with no history of intravenous drug abuse. The patient suffered from symptoms of septic emboli of the lung and right heart failure. She was ultimately treated by tricuspid valve replacement. There was no recurrence of symptoms following surgery.
Background—Preoperative factors associated with increased mortality and worse outcome after tricuspid valve replacement in patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation are poorly understood. Methods and Results—We retrospectively analyzed 189 patients (37% men; age, 67.5 11.3 years) who underwent tricuspid valve replacement for severe tricuspid regurgitation. Operative mortality rate was 10%, a...
POST MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION SUB-TRICUSPID VALVE PSEUDOANEURYSM- A LESSON FOR NOVICE ECHOCARDIOGRAPHER
A case of post tricuspid valve pseudoaneurysmoccurring 10 days after inferior wall myocardial infarction and diagnosed on trans-thoracic echocardiography. To the best our knowledge, this is first reported such a complication at sub-tricuspid location.
[Lesions produced by radiofrequency ablation of the cavotricuspid isthmus in an experimental model].
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES Experimental studies have shown that deeper and wider lesions (up to 10 mm long or deep) can be safely created using an 8 mm or irrigated tip catheter for ablation to treat atrial flutter. However, potential damage to the tricuspid valve or inferior cava vein has not been systematically evaluated. PATIENTS AND METHOD The cavotricuspid isthmus was ablated in 26 pigs...
Ebstein anomaly is characterized by deformities of the anterior leaflet of the tricuspid valve and atrialization of the right ventricle. Patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation are recommended to have tricuspid valve surgery with concomitant atrial septal defect closure. A 73-year-old female with Ebstein anomaly presented with severe hypoxemia. Transthoracic echocardiography revealed sever...
We used contrast echocardiography to estimate changes in flow velocity at the tricuspid and pulmonic valve orifices, as reflected by varying angles of the moving linear contrast echoes. The validity of the method was established by catheterization and echocardiographic studies in 14 patients. Flow velocity at the tricuspid and pulmonic valve orifices was measured by means of an electromagnetic ...
