Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) serve as a new class of ‘zero dimensional’ nanomaterial’s in thecarbon class with sizes below 10 nm. As light emitting nanocrystals, QDs are assembled from semiconductormaterials, from the elements in the periodic groups of II-VI, III-V or IV-VI, mainly thanks to impacts of quantum confinement QDs have unique optical properties such as brighter, highly pho...

The backreflection in commonly used grating couplers on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) is not negligible for many applications. This reflection is dramatically reduced in our improved compact grating coupler design, which directs the reflection away from the input waveguide. Realized devices on SOI show that the reflection can be reduced down to -50 dB without an apparent transmission penalty.

The factorization condition for the scattering amplitudes of an integrable model with a line of defect gives rise to a set of Reflection-Transmission equations. The solutions of these equations in the case of diagonal S-matrix in the bulk are only those with S = ±1. The choice S = −1 corresponds to the Ising model. We compute the transmission and reflection amplitudes relative to the interactio...

The spectral transmission and electron emissivity responses, measured for a series of typical photocathodes, are presented and analysed. Specifically, samples of S1, S20, S25, Bialkali and two types of solar-blind telluride photocathodes were investigated in both transmission and reflection modes of operation. The transmission mode is more convenient for imaging, night vision and for scintillat...

We introduce and solve the one-dimensional quantum non-linear Schrö-dinger (NLS) equation for an N-component field defined on the real line with a defect sitting at the origin. The quantum solution is constructed using the quantum inverse scattering method based on the concept of Reflection-Transmission (RT) algebras recently introduced. The symmetry of the model is generated by the reflection ...
