High pressure optical and near infrared spectra of a single crystal of ringwoodite with composition (Mg0.90Fe0.10)2SiO4 were measured to 21.5 GPa. The spectrum at ambient pressure shows a strong band at 12 265 cm–1 with two shoulders at 8678 cm–1 and 17 482 cm–1. The bands at 12 265 cm–1 and at 8678 cm–1 are due to spin–allowed crystal field transitions of octahedral Fe2+, while the band at 17 ...

This paper provides an optimal approximation of the fundamental linear fractional order transfer function using a distribution of the relaxation time function. Simple methods, useful in systems and control theories, which can be used to approximate the irrational transfer function of a class of fractional systems for a given frequency band by a rational function are presented. The optimal param...

Conjugated polymers undergo facile exciton diffusion. Different molecular structures were examined to study the role of the excited state lifetimes and molecular conformations on energy transfer. There is a clear indication that extended fluorescence lifetimes give enhanced exciton diffusion as determined by fluorescence depolarization measurements. These results are consistent with a strong el...

This paper presents a new current mode (CM) single-input and multi-output (SIMO)-type biquad using two multiple output OTAs and one current follower as an active device and having two grounded capacitors. This SIMO type circuit realizes all the five filter functions as low pass, band pass, high pass, band reject and all pass filter transfer functions simultaneously. This circuit has the unity g...

Semiconductor nanorods with charge-accepting molecules adsorbed on their surfaces serve as model systems for solar energy conversion. An electron photoexcited from the valence band of nanorod to a high-energy state in conduction will relax and transfer molecule, producing long-lived charge-separated that facilitates charge extraction thereby enables photochemical reactions. Characterizing dynam...

In this work, we have performed a systematic study of the electrical transport properties both the resistivity and the thermoelectric power on bundles of single-walled carbon nanotubes SWCNTs , double-walled carbon nanotubes DWCNTs , and peapods derived from the same batch of initial SWNTs during in situ doping with potassium donor . The charge transfer effects in K-doping are similar in SWNTs ...

This paper considers the theory of electron field emission from nanoscale emitters with particular focus on thermal and electrical energy transport. The foundational theory of field emission is explored, and a model is presented that accounts explicitly for the energy band curvature produced by nanoscale tip emitters. The results indicate that the inclusion of band curvature strongly influences...

This paper presents a method for optimizing the transfer function of the channel filter within the Zero-Intermediate Frequency radio receivers of Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) broadcasts. The method is based on a genetic algorithm (GA) and has several distinctive features: the type and order of the transfer function can be changed during the optimization process; the optimal...

[1] This study develops an analytical four-stream isosector approximation for solar radiative transfer in a homogeneous canopy, based on the approximation of four spherical sectors of isotropic intensities (constant values for light intensities). Compared to results from a multilayer radiative transfer model, the four-stream isosector approximation substantially improves the accuracy in calcula...

In this work we explore the effect of the contribution of the solar spectrum to the recorded signal in wavelengths outside the typical 940-nm filter’s bandwidth. We employ gaussian-shaped filters as well as actual filter transmission curves, mainly AERONET data, to study the implications imposed by the non-zero out-of-band contribution to the coefficients used to derive precipitable water from ...
