In this paper, we focus on the performance of TCP splitting in satellite-terrestrial hybrid networks. By simulation we show that long-time link outage has great negative impact on TCP throughput. To solve the problem, an ACK reservation scheme is proposed to speed up TCP recovery from link outage and analytical estimate of a key parameter of the scheme is provided for achieving high end-to-end ...

A domain decomposition unsteady Stokes solver has been implemented in a hybrid spectral/hp element solver. To extend the algorithm to solve the Navier-Stokes equations the non-linear terms are explicitly advanced in time and treated as a forcing function to the Stokes solver. This scheme is compared with the computa-tionally eecient high order splitting method and it is found that for polynomia...

We extend the Bloch-decomposition based time-splitting spectral method introduced in an earlier paper [13] to the case of (non-)linear Klein-Gordon equations. This provides us with an unconditionally stable numerical method which achieves spectral convergence in space, even in the case where the periodic coefficients are highly oscillatory and/or discontinuous. A comparison to a traditional pse...

We propose a non-oscillatory balanced numerical scheme for a simplified tropical climate model with a crude vertical resolution, reduced to the barotropic and the first baroclinic modes. The two modes exchange energy through highly nonlinear interaction terms. We consider a periodic channel domain, oriented zonally and centered around the equator and adopt a fractional stepping–splitting strate...

The Primal-Dual Hybrid Gradient method is a powerful splitting scheme for largescale constrained and non-differentiable problems. We present practical adaptive variants of PDHG that converge more quicky and are easier to use than conventional splitting schemes. We also study the convergence of PDHG, and prove new results guaranteeing convergence of the method when adaptivity is used properly.

A multigrid algorithm is combined with an upwind scheme for solving the twodimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations on triangular meshes resulting in an efficient, accurate code for solving complex flows around multiple bodies. The relaxation scheme uses a backward-Euler time difference and relaxes the resulting linear system using a red-black procedure. Roe’s flux-splitting scheme...

The paper describes a new upwind conservative numerical scheme for special relativistic resistive magnetohydrodynamics with scalar resistivity. The magnetic field is kept approximately divergence free and the divergence of the electric field consistent with the electric charge distribution via the method of Generalized Lagrange Multiplier. The hyperbolic fluxes are computed using the HLL prescr...

For noisy network with multiple relays, short message noisy network coding with rate splitting (SNNC-RS) scheme is presented. It has recently been shown by Hou and Kramer that mixed cooperative strategies in which relays in favorable positions decode-and-forward (DF) and the rest quantize via short message noisy network coding (SNNC) can outperform existing cooperative strategies (e.g., noisy n...

Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) is a type of multiscale algorithm that dynamically achieves high resolution in localized regions of multidimensional numerical simulations. A dynamic load balancing(DLB) scheme for structured AMR applications was proposed in [19]. Unfortunately, the overhead introduced by this DLB scheme is significant. Further, a parameter called threshold is used in this scheme ...

A comparison of triple jump and Suzuki fractals for obtaining high order from an almost symmetric Strang splitting scheme Lukas Einkemmer, Alexander Ostermann We consider the time discretization of ordinary and partial differential equations. More specifically, we assume that the considered problem can be written as the following abstract Cauchy problem (1) u′ = Au+B(u), u(0) = u0. In this cont...
