Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Acetophenone (per-O-acetylated-β-D-glucopyranosyl)thiosemicarbazones
A weakly fluorescent thiosemicabazone (L(1)H) was found to be a selective optical and "turn-on" fluorescent chemodosimeter for Cu(2+) ion in aqueous medium. A significant fluorescence enhancement along with change in color was only observed for Cu(2+) ion; among the other tested metal ions (viz. Na(+), K(+), Mg(2+), Ca(2+), Cr(3+), Zn(2+), Cd(2+), Hg(2+), Pb(2+), Ag(+), Ni(2+), Co(2+), Fe(3+) a...
Two selective and sensitive reagents, 2-acetylpyridine thiosemicarbazone (2-APT) and 3-acetylpyridine thiosemicarbazone (3-APT) were used for the spectrophotometric determination of Cu(II). Both reagents gave yellowish Cu(II) complex at a pH range of 8.0-10.0. Beer's law was obeyed for Cu(II)-2-APT and Cu(II)-3-APT in the concentration range of 0.16-1.3 and 0.44-1.05 µg/mL, respectively. The mo...
The coordinative chemistry of the tridentate thiosemicarbazone ligand 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde 4-N-ethylthiosemicarbazone (HL(Et)) has been explored by using an electrochemical methodology. All the complexes have been characterized using analytical and spectroscopic techniques. In the case of copper we have isolated two different complexes, with Cu(L(Et))(2).4H(2)O (6) and [Cu(2)(L(Et))(2)(SO(4...
Thiosemicarbazones (TSCs) are an interesting class of ligands that show a diverse range of biological activity, including anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-cancer effects. Our previous studies have demonstrated the potent in vivo anti-tumor activity of novel TSCs and their ability to overcome resistance to clinically used chemotherapeutics. In the current study, 35 novel TSCs of 6 different clas...
