Arsenic contamination was widespread off site, appearing at levels above comparison values in groundwater; surface water; soil, and ditch, swamp, and creek sediment. Because remediation has not yet taken place in some of these areas, continued arsenic exposure is possible. Arsenic exposure for children in contact with ditch sediments is sufficient to cause concern. Chronic exposure to maximum l...
The sequence of the ribonuclease from the ancestor of swamp buffalo, river buffalo, and ox, corresponding approximately to Pachyporrux lutidem, an extinct ruminant known from the fossil record, has been reconstructed using the rule of ‘maximum parsimony’. This protein and two sequences that may have been intermediates in the evolution of modern ribonuclease have been constructed in the laborato...
Bayesian decision support tools are becoming increasingly popular as a modelling framework that can analyse complex problems, resolve controversies, and support future decision-making in an adaptive management framework. This paper introduces a model designed to assist the management of the endangered Camphora swamp eucalypt (Eucalyptus camphora). This tree species is found in the Yellingbo Nat...

This review of the evidence for early agriculture in New Guinea supported by new data from Kuk Swamp demonstrates that cultivation had begun there by at least 6950-6440 cal BP and probably much earlier. Contrary to previous ideas, the first farming in New Guinea was not owed to SouthEast Asia, but emerged independently in the Highlands. Indeed plants such as the banana were probably first domes...

We report the draft genome sequence of Aeromonas sp. strain HZM, isolated from tropical peat swamp forest soil. The draft genome size is 4,451,364 bp with a G + C content of 61.7% and contains 10 rRNA sequences (eight copies of 5S rRNA genes, single copy of 16S and 23S rRNA each). The genome sequence can be accessed at DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank under the accession no. JEMQ00000000.
Purun is one of the endemic plants that naturally grows wild in peat and swamp areas. commonly found areas Indonesia, including East Kalimantan, especially Kabupaten Kutai Kertanegara. belongs to Cyperaceae family. This plant a typical land. Swamp land for long time during year always saturated with water or inundated. lives swamp, tidal river are acidic sulphate. There three types purun known n...
Radiolabeled phytoplankton and macrophyte lignocelluloses were incubated at pHs 4 and 7 in water from a naturally acidic freshwater wetland (Okefenokee Swamp; ambient pH, 3.8 to 4.2), a freshwater reservoir (L-Lake; pH 6.7 to 7.2), and a marine marsh (Sapelo Island; pH approximately 7.8). The data suggest that acidity is an important factor in explaining the lower decomposition rates of algae i...
