Let us approach our topic by a methodical stab at its component parts, moral tradition and moral revolution, each of which also has their constituents: moral, tradition and revolution. Since tradition appears to be central, I start with an analysis of the term. Then I argue simply that a moral tradition is not self-justifying and certainly not just on account of its longevity. My major issue ho...

We study the set of circles which intersect a Dupin cyclide in at least two different points orthogonally. Dupin cyclides can be obtained by inverting a cylinder, or cone of revolution, or by inverting a torus. Since orthogonal intersection is invariant under Möbius transformations we first study the ortho-circles of cylinders/cones of revolution and tori and transfer the results afterwards.

This paper uses modern econometric techniques, such as the lasso and the synthetic control method, to construct the counterfactual GDP per capita series for Russia for 1917–1940. The goal of this paper is twofold: first, to predict how the Russian economy might have developed without the Revolution; second, to evaluate and compare various econometric methods for computing the counterfactual GDP...

The Darwinian revolution is generally taken to be one of the key events in the history of Western science. In recent years, however, the very notion of a scientific revolution has come under attack, and in the specific case of Charles Darwin and his Origin of Species there are serious questions about the nature of the change (if there was such) and the specifically Darwinian input. This article...

We study the existence of solutions anH-system for a revolution surface without boundary for H depending on the radius f . Under suitable conditions we prove that the existence of a solution is equivalent to the solvability of a scalar equation N(a) = L/√2, where N : ⊂ R+ → R is a function depending on H . Moreover, using the method of upper and lower solutions we prove existence results for so...

The developments in the contemporary world, particularly the revolutions, coups and wars, have led to development of many theories about social movements. One of the methods used in social movements to bring about sociopolitical change is nonviolence. Nonviolent method of struggle was theorized by Gene Sharp, who collected and introduced 198 methods of nonviolent actions, protest and persuasion...
