Morphological categories of Siberian Turkic numerals are particularly complex and therefore deemed to be especially advantageous to areal investiga tions. The aim of this paper is to see whether (at least some of) the suffixes of collective numerals can readily be used as isogloss connecting Yakut and Dolgan with Tuvinian and Tofalar or, maybe, also some other Turkic languages.
Rodents might maintain tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) in nature through latent persistent infections. During 2 subsequent winters, 2008 and 2009, in Finland, we detected RNA of European and Siberian subtypes of TBEV in Microtus agrestis and Myodes glareolus voles, respectively. Persistence in rodent reservoirs may contribute to virus overwintering.
Adding new value to Electromagnetic, Gravity and Magnetic Methods for Exploration Capri, Italy, April 11-14, 2010 The basalt geometry in the west siberian basin from satellite gravity, magnetics and seismics S. Ferrante(), C. Braitenberg (), J. Ebbing () () Dipartimento di Geoscienze, Università di Trieste, Trieste, Italy( ), Geological Survey of Norway (NGU), Trondheim, Norway, and Department...
The analytical expression for the magnetic field of helical coils is presented. In particular, the multipole coefficients are introduced for helical dipole magnets, which are essential components of Siberian Snakes and spin rotators for polarized proton acceleration at RHIC. In addition, the comparison between analytical and numerical calculations is presented for simple helical dipole magnets.
The facultative anaerobic chemoorganoheterotrophic alphaproteobacterium Telmatospirillum siberiense 26-4b1 was isolated from a Siberian peatland. We report here a 6.20-Mbp near-complete high-quality draft genome sequence of T. siberiense that reveals expected and novel metabolic potential for the genus Telmatospirillum, including genes for sulfur oxidation.
Eight fatal cases of tick-borne encephalitis with an unusual hemorrhagic syndrome were identified in 1999 in the Novosibirsk Region, Russia. To study these strains, we sequenced cDNA fragments of protein E gene from six archival formalin-fixed brain samples. Phylogenetic analysis showed tick-borne encephalitis variants clustered with a Far Eastern subtype (homology 94.7%) but not with the Siber...
Recent work with exotic 24-h light:dark:light:dark (LDLD) cycles indicates surprising flexibility in the entrainment patterns of Syrian hamsters. Following exposure to an LDLD cycle, hamsters may adopt a form of rhythm splitting in which markers of subjective night (e.g., activity, melatonin) are expressed in each of the twice daily scotophases. This pattern contrasts markedly with that of conv...
The mtDNAs of 76 individuals representing the aboriginal populations of South Siberia, the Tuvinians and Buryats, were subjected to restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis and control region hypervariable segment I (HVS-I) sequencing, and the resulting data were combined with those available for other Siberian and East Asian populations and subjected to statistical and phylogen...
