Abstract Resonant nanostructures, such as photonic metasurfaces, have created an unprecedented case for enhanced light–matter interactions through local field engineering. However, the presence of resonances fundamentally limits bandwidth interactions. Here, we report on amending nonlinear optical response a semiconducting metasurface Q-boosting, where Q-factor rapidly increases with time. The ...

Abstract Terahertz (THz) waves are a highly sensitive probe of free carrier concentrations in semiconducting materials. However, most experiments operate the far-field, which precludes observation nanoscale features that affect material response. Here, we demonstrate use THz plasmon polaritons as an indicator surface quality prototypical quantum devices properties. Using near-field hyperspectra...

Abstract Two-terminal ferroelectric synaptic weights are fabricated on silicon. The active layers consist of a 2 nm thick WO x film and 2.7 HfZrO 4 (HZO) grown by atomic layer deposition. ultra-thin HZO is crystallized in the phase using millisecond flash at temperature only 500 °C, evidenced x-rays diffraction electron microscopy. current density increased four orders magnitude compared to bas...

Integration of organic/inorganic hybrid perovskites with metallic or semiconducting phases of 2D MoS2 nanosheets via solution processing is demonstrated. The results show that the collection of charge carriers is strongly dependent on the electronic properties of the 2D MoS2 with metallic MoS2 showing high responsivity and the semiconducting phase exhibiting high on/off ratios.

We develop an analytically solvable model able to qualitatively explain nonhydrogenicexciton spectra observed recently in two-dimensional (20) semiconducting transition-metal dichalcogenides. Our exciton Hamiltonian explicitly includes additional angular momentum associated with the pseudospin degree of freedom unavoidable in 20 semiconducting materials with honeycomb structure. We claim that t...

We have examined the time-dependent effect of the titanium oxide photocatalysis on N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone individually dispersed single walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) suspensions. From optical spectroscopic studies, we found a selective decoration of the semiconducting tubes. Such selectivity is attributed to the preferential attack of the photogenerated active species on the hole-doped semicond...

Recently, zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires have drawn major interest because of their semiconducting nature and unique optical and piezoelectric properties. Various applications for ZnO nanowires have been conceived, including the next generation of field effect transistors, light emitting diodes, sensors and resonators. ZnO nanowires are also envisioned as nanogenerators by exploiting the coupling o...

Silicon is as an essential element for crops and an important food source for the growth of rice plant. If no adequate replacement for this element, plants are faced with a shortage of silicon causing serious eating disorder and instability in plant resistance to pests. This research was done to investigate the effect of silicon on growth, yield and tolerance to rice stem borer in Tarom Hashemi...

Two-dimensional (2D) semiconducting monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have stimulated lots of interest because they are direct bandgap materials that have reasonably good mobility values. However, contact between most metals and semiconducting TMDCs like 2H phase WSe2 are highly resistive, thus degrading the performance of field effect transistors (FETs) fabricated with WSe2 as...

By structure prediction, we found a complex semiconducting Si metastable phase, named pentasilicon, which is stable at room temperature. The consists of sp2-sp3 hybrid bonds, has an ultralow thermal conductivity about 1.7 W/mK temperature, similar to those many high-performance thermoelectric materials. We the low pentasilicon originated from strong anharmonicity and crossover effect due intera...
