Present work focused on the seasonal variations in the physico-chemical parameters of the freshwater temple pondPrayagtirth at Trimbakeshwar in Nashik district during summer, monsoon and winter. A total 15 parameters were analysed and their seasonal variation is discussed. The correlation matrix of the various physico-chemical parameters are computed and analysed.

There have been statistically significant seasonal variations of annencephalus and spina bifida in each country of the United Kingdom during 1964-79 with the exception of anencephalus births in Northern Ireland. The seasonal peaks, where discernible, are in phase. Embryos appear to develop anencephalus most commonly in May-June and spina bifida in July.

The peaks of El Niño in the Cane–Zebiak (CZ) model tend to appear most frequently around November when the ocean Rossby waves, which were amplified during the previous unstable season (February–May), turn back to the eastern Pacific and when the local instability in the eastern Pacific is very weak. The peaks of La Niña in the CZ model occur most frequently in boreal summer, in contrast to the ...

We tested which environmental, social, lifestyle, and health related factors of the individual contribute to the seasonal variations in mood and behavior and whether these influence the risks of the metabolic syndrome and major depressive disorder, both conditions having a high prevalence in industrialized populations. 5480 individuals, representative of the general population aged 30 and over ...

The spatial distributions and seasonal variations of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in surface waters were investigated for the German rivers Elbe and lower Weser, and the North Sea. ∑PFAS concentrations ranged from 4.1 to 250ngL(-1) in the River Elbe, from 3.8 to 16ngL(-1) in the lower Weser, and from 0.13 to 10ngL(-1) in the North Sea. The most abundant compound was perfluorobutanesulfonat...

Although the seasonal cycle of the equatorial Atlantic and Pacific Oceans have many similarities, for example, an annual signal is dominant at the equator even though the sun ‘‘crosses’’ the equator twice a year, different processes determine the seasonal cycles of the two oceans and in the Atlantic different processes are important in the east and west. In the Gulf of Guinea in the eastern equ...

The coral holobiont often resides in oligotrophic waters; both coral cells and their symbiotic dinoflagellates possess ammonium assimilation enzymes and potentially benefit from the nitrogen fixation of coral-associated diazotrophs. However, the seasonal dynamics of coral-associated diazotrophs are not well characterized. Here, the seasonal variations of diazotrophic communities associated with...

cant. To the best of our knowledge, the present study is the first to systematically investigate interindividual seasonal variations of CRP in several large populations. In two studies, seasonal variation of CRP was investigated on an intraindividual basis. Woodhouse et al. (2 ) reported higher CRP concentrations in winter with a peak in March, and Crawford et al. (13 ) found a significant seas...

Understanding how risks to human health change as a result of seasonal variations in environmental conditions is likely to become of increasing importance in the context of climatic change, especially in lower-income countries. A multi-disciplinary approach can be a useful tool for improving understanding, particularly in situations where existing data resources are limited but the environmenta...

Seasonal asymmetry in the interannual variations in the daytime and nighttime climate in the Northern Hemisphere (NH) is well documented, but its consequences for vegetation activity remain poorly understood. Here, we investigate the interannual responses of vegetation activity to variations of seasonal mean daytime and nighttime climate in NH (>30 °N) during the past decades using remote sensi...
