Objectives: This study is undertaken to evaluate the dependence of bond strength of 100% fresh nonprecious alloy and the combination of 50% recast (used) alloy and 50% fresh alloy with three different veneering ceramic material. Materials and methods: To evaluate the shear bond strength between new and recast alloy nonprecious Ni-Cr alloy (System KN®, Adentatec, Germany) was used with three dif...

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of metal primers on the bonding of dental alloys and veneer resin. Polyvinylpyrrolidone solution's tarnish effect on bonding strength was also investigated. MATERIALS AND METHODS Disk-shape metal specimens (diameter 8 mm, thickness 1.5 mm) were made from 3 kinds of alloy (Co-Cr, Ti and Au-Ag-Pd alloy) and divided into 4 groups per each ...

We recently reported a highly active photocatalyst, ruthenium-modified zinc oxide, which was found to be able to utilise the red part of the visible light spectrum for photocatalytic reactions [Bloh et al., Environ. Sci. Pollut. Res., 2012, 19, 3688-3695]. However, the origin and mechanism of the observed activity as well as the nature of the photoactive centres are still unknown. Herein, we ex...

An investigation of the performances in Fischer-Tropsch reaction of 1wt% M/WC(X) (M = Co, Ru; X = A, B), where A is a tungsten carbide protected by free carbon and B is a clean tungsten carbide, was carried out. Supported catalysts performances were compared to those of the parent tungsten carbides at 473 K and 20 bar. It was found that WC(A) produces mainly hydrocarbons but also 20-40% alcohol...

Ultrafine ruthenium–titanium oxide catalysts were directly produced using a continuous hydrothermal flow synthesis process and assessed as chloride oxidation catalysts. Selectivity towards chlorine (over oxygen) evolution was shown to generally increase with decreasing ruthenium content. The optimum catalyst was then used to make an anode for a light-driven brine-splitting demonstrator device t...

The preparation of ruthenium(0) nanoclusters supported on hydroxyapatite and their characterization by a combination of complementary techniques are described. The resultant ruthenium(0) nanoclusters provide high activity and reusability in the complete hydrogenation of aromatics under mild conditions (at 25 degrees C and with 42 psi initial H(2) pressure).

A ruthenium-catalyzed intermolecular [3 + 2] cycloaddition of 2H-azirines and activated alkynes is reported, which provides polysubstituted pyrroles in moderate to good yields. This approach features a C-N bond cleavage of 2H-azirines by a ruthenium catalyst. The results of this study would provide a complementary method to synthesize polysubstituted pyrroles from the known 2H-azirine approache...

A new kind of biomedical shape memory TiNiAg alloy with antibacterial function was successfully developed in the present study by the introduction of pure Ag precipitates into the TiNi matrix phase. The microstructure, mechanical property, corrosion resistance, ion release behavior in simulated body fluid, cytotoxicity and antibacterial properties were systematically investigated. The typical m...
