in this paper, we introduce the idea of generalized relative order (respectively generalized relative lower order) of entire functions of two complex variables. hence, we study some growth properties of entire functions of two complex variables on the basis of the definition of generalized relative order and generalized relative lower order of entire functions of two complex variables.
We outline a theory for the calculation of the beam quality factor of an aberrated laser beam. We provide closed-form equations that show that the beam quality factor of an aberrated Gaussian beam depends on all primary aberrations except tilt, defocus, and x-astigmatism. The model is verified experimentally by implementing aberrations as digital holograms in the laboratory.
This paper discusses the use of cancer incidence data in identification of cancer causation. Selective descriptive and analytical epidemiological studies were reviewed. These examples were taken primarily from Denmark, where the possibilities for epidemiological research are good due to the existence of many exposure and disease registers. Descriptive studies are still needed for a better under...
Energy dissipation experienced by vibrating microcantilever beams immersed in fluid is strongly dependent on the mode of vibration, with quality factors typically increasing with mode number. Recently, we examined energy dissipation in a new class of cantilever device that embeds a microfluidic channel in its interior-the fundamental mode of vibration only was considered. Due to its importance ...
We report that a resonance response with a very high quality factor can be achieved in a planar metamaterial by introducing symmetry breaking in the shape of its structural elements, which enables excitation of trapped modes, i.e., modes that are weakly coupled to free space.
When estimating the absolute risk of cancer, the shape of the dose--response curve in the region of doses where actual exposure of man occurs is of crucial importance. This shape is equally important for the determination of relative risks, as in the comparison of risks from alternative energy sources. Experimental and epidemiological studies are, for various reasons, unable to give sufficientl...
BACKGROUND A growing number of European studies, particularly from Nordic countries, suggest an increased frequency of autism in children of immigrant parents. In contrast, North American studies tend to conclude that neither maternal ethnicity nor immigrant status are related to the rate of autism-spectrum disorders. AIMS To examine the hypotheses that maternal ethnicity and/or immigration a...
