The aim of this paper is to contribute to the understanding of the pattern formation phenomenon in reaction-diffusion equations coupled with ordinary differential equations. Such systems of equations arise, for example, from modeling of interactions between cellular processes such as cell growth, differentiation or transformation and diffusing signaling factors. We focus on stability analysis o...

We consider the reaction zone that grows between separated regions of diffusing species A and B that react according to mA + nB → 0, within the framework of the mean-fieldlike reaction-diffusion equations. For distances from the centre of the reaction zone much smaller than the diffusion length XD ≡ √ Dt, the particle density profiles are described by the scaling forms predicted by a quasistati...

We develop a heuristic model embedding Kleiber and Murray laws to describe mass growth, metastasis and vascularization in cancer. We analyze the relevant dynamics using different evolution equations (Verhulst, Gompertz and others). Their extension to reaction diffusion equation of the Fisher type is then used to describe the relevant metastatic spreading in space. Regarding this last point, we ...

We discuss possible extensions of the recently established theory of evolutionary Γ-convergence for gradient systems to nonlinear dynamical systems obtained by perturbation of a gradient systems. Thus, it is possible to derive effective equations for pattern forming systems with multiple scales. Our applications include homogenization of reaction-diffusion systems, the justification of amplitud...

At present paper, we establish the existence of pullback $mathcal{D}$-attractor for the process associated with non-autonomous partly dissipative reaction-diffusion equation in $L^2(mathbb{R}^n)times L^2(mathbb{R}^n)$. In order to do this, by energy equation method we show that the process, which possesses a pullback $mathcal{D}$-absorbing set, is pullback $widehat{D}_0$-asymptotically compact.

For reaction-diffusion-advection equations, the stiffness from the reaction and diffusion terms often requires very restricted time step size, while the nonlinear advection term may lead to a sharp gradient in localized spatial regions. It is challenging to design numerical methods that can efficiently handle both difficulties. For reaction-diffusion systems with both stiff reaction and diffusi...

Fluctuations in diffusion-controlled reactions lack the necessary features for a mesoscopic description. We show how the correlations dominate the dynamics by juxtaposing the macroscopic dynamics of a cellular automaton model for the diffusion-controlled limit to the deterministic diffusion-reaction rate equation for the same reaction. A more detailed N-body master equation is then presented in...

The selection of shape and rotation frequency for scroll waves in reaction-diffusion equations modeling excitable media is investigated. For scrolls with uniform twist about straight filaments, asymptotic methods are used to derive free-boundary equations at leading and first order. Both orders are validated against full solutions of the reaction-diffusion equations. Using these two orders and ...

Many models in biology and ecology can be described by reaction-diffusion equations wit time delay. One of important solutions for these type of equations is the traveling wave solution that shows the phenomenon of wave propagation. The existence of traveling wave fronts has been proved for large class of equations, in particular, the monotone systems, such as the cooperative systems and some c...
