Cavitary lung lesions are commonly caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae. Pseudomonas rarely causes such lesion. Here we report a case of cavitary pneumonia due to pseudomonas aeruginosa in the setting catheter related blood stream infection 25-year-old male with crescentic IgA nephropathy who was on immunosuppressive medication.

background and objectives: pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most important opportunistic pathogens in patients who suffer from immunodeficiency and burns. wound infections caused by p. aeruginosa can rapidly change to systemic and life threatening situation. the aim of this study was to apply florescent in situ hybridization (fish) method for rapid detection of p. aeruginosa in burrn patien...

the genus pseudomonas consists of more than 120 species that are ubiquitous in moist environments such as water and soil ecosystems and are pathogenic to animals and humans. within the genus of pseudomonas, p. aeruginosa is most frequently associated with human infections. the bacterium is regarded as an opportunistic pathogen, primarily causing nosocomial infections in immunocompromised patien...

We studied the prevalence of ceftazidime resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and the rates of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL), AmpC β-lactamase (AmpC) and metallo-β-lactamase (MBL) production among the ceftazidime resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A very high rate of MBL production was observed, which suggested it to be an important contributing factor for ceftazidime resistance among Pse...

In recent years, the interest in the use of bacteria for biological control of plant-pathogenic fungi has increased. We studied the possible side effects of coating barley seeds with the antagonistic strain Pseudomonas fluorescens DR54 or a commercial fungicide, imazalil. This was done by monitoring the number of indigenous Pseudomonas organisms and actinomycetes on barley roots during growth i...

In this study, we used a chromogenic method to show the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in seawater. The culture dependent identification of P. aeruginosa typically takes approximately 2-3 days with conventional methods. More reliable, rapid and cost effective results can also be achieved with PCR based methodologies but only in microbiology laboratories equipped with suitable infrastructure...
