In this study, we demonstrated organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) outcoupling with a flexible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film micro-convex structure using the breath figure (BF) method. We can easily control pattern by adjusting concentration of polystyrene and humidity during BF process. As process conditions to fabricate structure, polymer concentrations 10, 20, 40, 80 mg/mL 60, 70, 80% r...

The spatial arrangement of metal nanoparticle (NP) arrays in block copolymers has many potential applications in OFET-type memory devices. In this study, we adopted a trapping approach in which we used a monolayer thin film of polystyrene-block-poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PS56k-b-P4VP8k)-a highly asymmetric diblock copolymer having a spherical micelle morphology-to incorporate various amounts of one...

A new and general approach is proposed to analyze the dynamics of a colloidal particle interacting with a nearby wall. This analysis can be used to determine the acting forces even when the system is non-stationary. As an illustration, we use total internal reflection microscopy to investigate the forces acting on a polystyrene sulfate latex particle as it is receding from a charged glass surface.

Hydrogen peroxide (aqueous solution of H2O2) is one the most used reagents i n medical sterilization, environmental disinfection, food storage, and other fields. However, hydrogen has potential to cause serious harm biological health safety. There are many methods (especially electrochemistry) for H2O2 detection in liquid phase systems, but a lack vapor detection. This due its colorless tastele...

Nanostructured polymers and ultra-thin polymer layers are used more and more in technical applications like nanotechnology and microelectronics. Therefore, it is really important to understand the size-scale dependent properties as bulk polymers become thinner and more two-dimensional. Here the morphology as well as the macroscopic and the microscopic deformation behaviour of multilayered films...

A surface modification of interdigitated gold microelectrodes (IDEs) with a doped polypyrrole (PPy) film for detection of dopamine released from populations of differentiated PC12 cells is presented. A thin PPy layer was potentiostatically electropolymerized from an aqueous pyrrole solution onto electrode surfaces. The conducting polymer film was doped during electropolymerization by introducin...

We present an experimental investigation of the segmental relaxation behavior of polystyrene (PS) chains that are confined in a micellar core tethered by a poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) block corona on the dry film surface, along with various core density and molecular weight of PS block from below to well above the entanglement molecular weight. The results show that the onset temperature of PS cha...

2014 At equilibrium thin films of symmetric diblock copolymers exhibit a morphology where the lamellar microdomains are oriented parallel to the external surfaces. Interference microscopy has been used to investigate this orientation which results in a quantization of the film thickness. Solution cast films of the symmetric polystyrene/polymethylmethacrylate P(S-b-MMA) diblock copolymers exhibi...

Qualitatively different thickness dependences have been observed in the glass transition temperature, Tg, of polystyrene (PS) films supported by hydrogen-passivated silicon (H-Si). It has been suggested that upon annealing at high temperatures in air, the polymer/substrate interface of these films (i.e., PS/Si), though buried underneath the PS layer, might be oxidized, rendering the films a dif...

The most important limitation for a significant increase of the areal storage density in magnetic recording is the superparamagnetic effect. Below a critical grain size of the used CoCrPt exchange-decoupled granular films the information cannot be stored for a reasonable time (typically ten years) due to thermal fluctuations arbitrary flipping of the magnetization direction. An alternative appr...
