A facile and feasible oil-in-water self-assembly approach was developed to synthesize flower-like Ag@AgBr/Bi₂O₂CO₃ micro-composites. The photocatalytic activities of the samples were evaluated through methylene blue degradation under visible light irradiation. Compared to Bi₂O₂CO₃, flower-like Ag@AgBr/Bi₂O₂CO₃ micro-composites show enhanced photocatalytic activities. In addition, results indica...
As a kind of highly effective, low‐cost, and stable photocatalysts, TiO2 has received substantial public and scientific attention. However, it can only be activated under ultraviolet light irradiation due to its wide bandgap, high recombination, and weak separation efficiency of carriers. Doping is an effective method to extend the light absorption to the visible light region. In this chapter, ...
This paper mainly focuses on the synergistic effect of Sn and N dopants to enhance the photocatalytic performance of anatase TiO2 under visible light or simulated solar light irradiation. The Sn and N co-doped TiO2 (SNT-x) photocatalysts were successfully prepared by the facile sol-gel method and the post-nitridation route in the temperature range of 400-550 °C. All the as-prepared samples were...
Three polymorphs of Bi(2)O(3) were selectively synthesized via solution-based methods. The phase structures of the as-prepared samples were confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy was employed to study the optical properties of Bi(2)O(3) polymorphs, and the band gaps were estimated to be 2.80, 2.48, and 3.01...
We, for the first time, demonstrate band-gap-broadening as a new approach to remarkably enhance the photocatalytic activity of Br(-) substituted BiOI photocatalysts, which were fabricated via a facile chemical precipitation route. The successful incorporation of Br(-) ions into the crystal lattice of BiOI was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and high-...
Particles of sub-micron size possess significant capacity to adsorb organic molecules from aqueous media. Semiconductor photocatalysts in particle form could potentially be utilized for dye removal through either physical adsorption or photo-induced chemical process. The photocatalytic and adsorption capabilities of Cu₂O particles with various exposed crystal facets have been studied through se...
The poly-o-phenylenediamine (PoPD)/TiO2 nanocomposite was successfully synthesized via 'in situ' oxidative polymerization method. The modified photocatalysts were characterized by BET, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrarad spectra (FT-IR), thermogravimrtic analysis (TGA), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (...
We examined the photochemical properties of well-ordered multilayer films of titania nanosheets prepared on quartz-glass substrate using the layer-by-layer deposition method. The photocatalytic decomposition of gaseous 2-propanol and bleaching of Methylene Blue dye under UV light illumination were measured to evaluate the photocatalytic oxidation ability. Photoinduced hydrophilicity was also st...
Applying post thermal treatment on the doped TiO2 at high temperature is mostly regarded as an indispensable process, although it has negative effects on the photocatalytic activity of doped TiO2. Herein, we synthesized the N- and S-codoped TiO2 (NSTs) with an anatase phase using a simple solvothermal treatment and investigated their visible light photocatalytic activity associated with the the...
Photocatalytic hydrogen evolution over semiconducting niobate nanosheets is synergistically improved by coexisting photochemically inactive additives of clay particles and sodium chloride without precise nanoscopic structural regulation. In addition, the Pt cocatalyst loaded on the clay particles works better than that photodeposited on the photocatalytic nanosheets.
