This chapter introduces a fuzzy object-relational database model including fuzzy extensions of the basic object-relational databases constructs, the user-defined data types, and the collection types. The fuzzy extensions of these constructs focus on two main flexible aspects, a way to flexibly compare complex data types and an extension of collection types allowing partial membership of its ele...

An order relation, which satisfies the axioms of a partial ordering, is defined on the set of general fuzzy numbers. An L fuzzy number is defined as a fuzzy numbcr specialized to a certain extent, and fundamental linear operations are introduced on the set of the L fuzzy numbers. After that, characterization theorems of the order among the L fuzzy numbers is given in terms of the parameters of ...

Mathematical theories are pervaded with the use of partial orders and more general preorders also called quasi orders i e re exive and transitive binary rela tions Preorders also play an important role in appli cations for instance as preference relations in multi criteria decision aid techniques The observation that classical relations do not allow to express partial or graded relationships ha...

Metaset is a new concept of set with partial membership relation. It is designed to represent and process vague, imprecise data – similarly to fuzzy sets. Metasets are based on the classical set theory primitive notions. At the same time they are directed towards efficient computer implementations and applications. The degrees of membership for metasets are expressed as finite binary sequences,...

This study proposes a fuzzy system for tracking the maximum power point of a PV system for solar panel. The solar panel and maximum power point tracker have been modeled using MATLAB/Simulink. A simulation model consists of PV panel, boost converter, and maximum power point tack MPPT algorithm is developed. Three different conditions are simulated: 1) Uniform irradiation; 2) Sudden changing; 3)...

In this work, we propose a fuzzy inference system based contrast enhancement of gray level images. We propose a new method of generating the fuzzy if-then rules specific to a given image based on the local information available to be used by a fuzzy inference system. To this end, we only generate a partial histogram and not a complete histogram thus saving on computational costs. We also give a...

In this paper, we address fault-tolerant control for non-linear plants. We perform soft fault detection and isolation for partial fault detection. A new method is proposed that combines model predictive controllers with fuzzy Takagi-Sugeno models. An example is presented to illustrate the functionality of the proposed approach. Keywords— Fault detection and isolation, multiple models, fuzzy Tak...

the zarankiewicz number z(b; s) is the maximum size of a subgraph of kb,b which does not contain ks,s as a subgraph. the two-color bipartite ramsey number b(s, t) is the smallest integer b such that any coloring of the edges of kb,b with two colors contains a ks,s in the rst color or a kt,t in the second color.in this work, we design and exploit a computational method for bounding and computin...

This paper studies the possibility to deal with partial functions in fuzzy type theory. Among various ways how to represent them we chose introduction of a special value “undefined” laying outside the corresponding domain. In FTT, we can quite naturally utilize the description operator by extending its action also to subnormal fuzzy sets.
