Low coherence interferometry (LCI) is an optical technique in which light is used as an instrument to obtain high resolution optical images in a great diversity of materials. It is possible to find in the literature, a variety of configurations with different names, based on the same principle: low coherence reflectometry (OLCR), optical coherence tomography (OCT), white light interferometry (W...
Sub-Tenon's injection of triamcinolone was performed in the right eye of a patient with bilateral Purtscher's-like retinopathy after childbirth. The response of macular edema to local triamcinolone was investigated with optical coherence tomography. Five weeks following the injection, optical coherence tomography improvement was seen following unilateral sub-Tenon's triamcinolone injection.
Silicon oxynitride-based arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) spectrometers were designed for on-chip spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems and Raman spectroscopy of the skin. A novel geometrical layout for Raman spectroscopy was introduced to reduce loss. Measurements show that integrated optics has a good potential for miniaturizing current OCT systems. Keywords-arrayed wavegu...
We present experimental results of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography systems using arrayed-waveguide gratings (AWG) for the 800-nm and 1300-nm spectral ranges. A phantom is imaged by using the 1300-nm AWG. Keywords-arrayed waveguide grating; optical coherence tomography; integrated optics
We explore theoretically and numerically optical rogue wave formation in stimulated Raman scattering inside a hydrogen filled hollow core photonic crystal fiber. We assume a weak noisy Stokes pulse input and explicitly construct the input Stokes pulse ensemble using the coherent mode representation of optical coherence theory, thereby providing a link between optical coherence and rogue wave th...
Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a new, noninvasive technology that enables detailed evaluation of flow in the retinal and choroidal vasculature. The authors believe this to be the first report to describe the optical coherence tomography angiography findings associated with combined central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) and central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).
This is a review of the book Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography in Macular Diseases edited by Meyer et al. (Spectral domain optical coherence tomography in macular diseases. Springer, New York, [2017]). The book provides clinicians both basic and advanced understanding of OCT applications in the field of medical retina.
The polarization dependency of an arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) in an optical low-coherence reflectometry system is investigated. For mixed polarization, signal fading is observed at specific depths. This fading is eliminated by using a nonbirefringent AWG. Keywords-arrayed waveguide grating; Non-Birefringent waveguides; Optical Low-coherence Reflectometry
To describe different techniques for the detection of diabetic foveal edema. A retrospective review of the detection of diabetic foveal edema. Noncontact lens biomicroscopy is relatively insensitive in mild foveal thickening apparent on optical coherence tomography. Optical coherence tomography measurements can detect early retinal damage in diabetic retinopathy patients.
This study evaluated the utility of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in imaging porcine and human rotator cuff (RTC) tissue, analyzed its effectiveness in identifying clinical pathology, and correlated these findings with histologic examination. Twelve human cadaveric and 6 porcine shoulders were evaluated. Six-millimeter-wide bone sections were harvested from the proximal humerus of each spe...
