In this paper we discuss the detection of CP and T -violation effects in the framework of a neutrino factory. We introduce three quantities, which are good discriminants for a non vanishing complex phase (δ) in the 3 × 3 neutrino mixing matrix: ∆δ, ∆CP and ∆T . We find that these three discriminants (in vacuum) all scale with L/Eν , where L is the baseline and Eν the neutrino energy. Matter eff...

Compelling evidences in favor of neutrino masses and mixing obtained in the last years in Super-Kamiokande, SNO, KamLAND and other neutrino experiments made the physics of massive and mixed neutrinos a frontier field of research in particle physics and astrophysics. There are many open problems in this new field. In this review we consider the problem of the absolute values of neutrino masses, ...

The IceCube detector is already the world’s largest neutrino detector and when completed in 2011, will be a cubic kilometer in volume. However, even under optimistic assumptions about neutrino emission, the potential neutrino signal in IceCube from AGN and GRBs may be small. The atmospheric neutrino background after cuts will result in 1-2 neutrinos/yr/km/deg above 1 TeV. For a three year obser...

Second generation high energy neutrino telescopes are being built to reach sensitivities of neutrino emission from galactic and extragalactic sources. Current neutrino detectors are already able to set limits which are in the range of some emission models. In particular, the Antarctic Muon And Neutrino Detection Array (AMANDA) has recently presented the so far most restrictive limit on diffuse ...

Since the first detection of the neutrino at reactors [1] and the discovery of the νμ at the Brookhaven AGS [2], accelerators and reactors have been used to provide intense beams of neutrinos. Over the last 30 years, experiments with neutrino beams have played a major role in shaping the Standard Model of particle physics as it is known today. At present, electroweak theory is more conveniently...

Beta-spectrum of radioactive atoms was long ago predicted to bear an imprint the cosmic neutrino background ($\mathrm{C}\ensuremath{\nu}\mathrm{B}$) [S. Weinberg, Phys. Rev. 128, 1457 (1962)]. Over years, it has been recognized that best chance achieving signal-to-noise ratio required for observation this effect lies with solid-state designs [E. Baracchini et al., arXiv:1808.01892.]. Here we br...
