Objective: To determine the dermatomal level of sensory block after spinal anesthesia traditionally used method is pinprick test. Pinprick test is an invasive and painful method. We aimed to compare the dermatomal levels of sensory block determined by noninvasive simple tests touch and cold sense loss with routinely used invasive pinprick stimulation test in clinical practice. Materials and Met...

Spinal anaesthesia was performed on 101 patients with a 25-Gauge (0.52 mm) needle. We found a 13.9% overall incidence of postdural puncture headache (PDPH) in an orthopaedic population whose mean age was 33.6 years. This incidence is too high and an alternative technique may be needed.

In this paper, a contact less testing and calibration system is developed for temperature gauges. The system captures the images of temperature gauge at a regular interval, detects the desired region of interest using algorithms and segments the needle for further processing. The segmented image properties are calculated and matched with the standard data to indentify the indicated value. The s...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Intracranial subdural hematoma is a rare complication following spinal anesthesia. The diagnosis is usually difficult because initial symptoms are the same of post-dural puncture headache. The objective was to report a case of early diagnosed subdural hematoma after spinal anesthesia performed with a fine-gauge needle and single puncture. CASE REPORT 48-year old fema...

Background and study aims The optimal approach to small subepithelial tumors (SETs) of the upper gastrointestinal tract remains inconclusive. The aim of this study was to evaluate endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) for less invasive tissue sampling of small SETs of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Patients and methods In this prospective observational study patients with...

scopic ultrasound (EUS) evaluation of a cystic lesion in the pancreas tail, which had been found on cross-sectional imaging during work-up of unintended weight loss. A 4.7 × 4.5 cm anechoic, septated macrocystic lesion was seen in the pancreas tail with a central calcification (●" Fig. 1). The remainder of the pancreas examination was normal. An avascular pathway was chosen and a 19-gauge needl...

OBJECTIVE Sharp division of the A1 pulley is a time-honored technique for the treatment of flexor tendon entrapment; however, this procedure is not without complications. The anatomy of the A1 pulley system has been carefully investigated. Knowledge of superficial anatomic landmarks can assist with demarcating the distal edge of the A1 pulley and prevent damage to the critical A2 pulley. METH...

A simple nonsurgical technique of obtaining fat samples by aspiration from the gluteal prominence was developed by Hirsh in 1960 and has been in use in our Nutrition Clinic at the Mount Sinai Hospital for several years. We have modified it for field use and the analysis of fat-soluble hydrocarbon residues. All the materials which will contain the fat sample to be analyzed are washed with aceton...
