It is shown that many heterocyclic organic compounds, e.g., various azoles, are capable of adsorption on metals with formation of strong bonds with the surface. The approach based on the linear free energy relationship (LFER) principle offers a description of the efficiency of corrosion inhibition by these compounds and provides an understanding of the nature of chemical bonds formed by an orga...

This work presents a new method to prepare poly(sodium acrylate) magnetite composite nanoparticles. Core/shell type magnetite nanocomposites were synthesized using sodium acrylate as monomer and N,N-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as crosslinker. Microemulsion polymerization was used for constructing core/shell structures with magnetite nanoparticles as core and poly(sodium acrylate) as shell. Fou...
Cashew nut testa tannin [CASTAN] has been found to inhibit the corrosion of aluminium in hydrochloric acid solutions using gravimetric, thermometric and UV/visible spectrophotometric techniques. CASTAN inhibition was by adsorption on aluminium following Temkin isotherm in 0.1 M HCl and Langmuir isotherm in 0.5 M and 2.0 M HCl at 303 Kelvin. Physical adsorption on aluminium has been proposed in ...
The efficiency of Schiff base derived from 4-aminoantipyrine, namely 2-(1,5-dimethyl-4-(2-methylbenzylidene)amino)-2-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3(2H)-ylidene) hydrazinecarbothioamide as a corrosion inhibitor on mild steel in 1.0 M H2SO4 was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PD) and electrochemical frequently modulation (EFM) in addition to the...
Corrosion is a natural global problem of immense importance. Oxidation of iron and steel not only compromises the structural stability of a widely used and versatile material but it also creates an abrasive compound (iron oxide) that can score the surfaces of metals, rendering them useless for the purpose for which they were designed. Clearly, the identification of corrosion in its nascent stag...
This work deals with the evaluation of diphenyl sulphide as a corrosion inhibitor for zinc in 0.5N HCl and 0.5N H2SO4 by conventional weight loss and gasometric methods. Results indicate that diphenyl sulphide exhibited high inhibition efficiencies in both the acids but performed better in 0.5N H2SO4 than in 0.5N HCl. The inhibition efficiency was found to increase with increase in the inhibito...
