We report a case of mycotic abdominal aortic aneurysm where the use of hybrid imaging with gallium scan demonstrated increased uptake in the infected aneurysm and aided in differentiating physiological uptake in the bowel from pathological uptake.

A case of a mycotic aneurysm of the petrous portion of the internal carotid artery is presented. This entity is extremely rare and the problems associated with the diagnosis and clinical management are discussed.
The diagnosis of cerebrovascular accident is extremely common in emergency medicine; however, CVA resulting from hemorrhage following mycotic brain aneurysm following embolic stroke is extremely uncommon. This case reports such an event.
