Benign metastasizing leiomyoma is very rare and usually occurs in women who undergo hysterectomy and myomectomy for uterine leiomyoma. This is a benign spindle-shaped smooth muscle cell tumor pathologically but metastasizes to the extrauterine organs. Lungs are the most common site of metastasis. We observed three cases of pulmonary benign metastasizing leiomyoma.
Leiomyosarcomas are malignant tumors of smooth muscle origin. These tumors are very rare in the head and neck region. The majority of leiomyosarcomas of the head and neck arise in the paranasal sinuses, oral cavity, jaws and superficial soft tissues like the scalp. A mass was observed in the right temporoparietal region of the scalp of a 76-year-old female. Two years before presentation, the pa...
Cervical cancer is the most common malignancy in Indian women. Cervical cancer usually spread by local extension and through the lymphatics to the retroperitoneal lymph nodes. Direct invasion of muscles by primary growth is more common than by metastatic involvement. We present a case of carcinoma of the cervix post radiotherapy to pelvis who on follow up presented with biceps muscle metastases...
A case of a 59-year-old man with a distant forearm muscular metastasis due to squamous cell lung carcinoma is presented. Fourteen months after a right pneumonectomy the patient was readmitted with a mass in the right forearm and pain in the right elbow during flexion. He underwent an en bloc wide resection of the tumor, which was confirmed to be metastatic. Twelve months after excision and adju...
intramuscular cavernous hemangiomas represent less than 1% of all hemangiomas. typical presentation is a soft-tissue mass and/or pain without cutaneous changes. whereas calcification of hemangiomas is common; ossification of these lesions is very rare. we describe a case of ossified intramuscular hemangioma of quadriceps presented with painless knee extension contracture and thigh mass.
Primitive neuroectodermal tumor is an invasive neoplasm with neuronal differentiation, which frequently results in metastasis in various organs. We report the case of a patient with primitive neuroectodermal tumor whose primary site was the axilla. The patient presented with metastases in the lung, pleura, bone, iliac muscle and bone marrow. We highlight the uncommon finding in the pleural flui...
Malignant melanoma can spread to any organ. The most common sites of metastasis are skin, subcutaneous tissue and lymph nodes, followed by lung, liver and brain. Skeletal muscle metastases from melanoma are rare and only reported sporadically in literature. We report a case of a 31 year old male with multiple intramuscular metastases from malignant
