Intra-cardiac 3D ultrasound imaging has enabled new minimally invasive procedures. Its narrow field of view, however, limits its efficacy in guiding beating heart procedures where geometrically complex and spatially extended moving anatomic structures are often involved. In this paper, we present a system that performs electrocardiograph gated 4D mosaicing and visualization of 3DUS volumes. Rea...
In this work we focus our attention on improving the visual realism of virtual surgery. A synthetic solution by innovative use of various image-based rendering methods is presented for realistic rendering of virtual surgery scenes. We have, for the first time, developed a methodology for generating virtual surgery scenes with realistic glistening effects by a combination of various image-based ...
02501 Image analysis , vision and computer graphics Exercise 05 - Image Warping 12 th September 2005
This note introduces the concept of image warping and treats the special case of Euclidean warping along with a discussion of a Matlab implementation. Secondly an application of image warping is given; namely image mosaicing where images are stitched together – e.g. to form a panoramic view. Effort has been put into making the text as self-containing as possible. However, basic knowledge of lin...
The association of G343.1-2.3 and PSR 1706-44 has been controversial from its first proposal. In this paper we present new evidence from images made by with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA), MRT and Mt. Pleasant. To cover the full extent of G343.1-2.3 with ATCA mosaicing was required, and we present the polarisation images from this experiment. The ATCA observations confirms the muc...
This paper describes a method that allows the composition of an overhead view mosaic of a worksite from the views available. This global view of the site will help a teleoperator to adequately specify the actions to be performed in the realization of a given task. The idea proposed here is to obtain the overhead view by combining two known techniques, namely mosaicing and image rectification.

Image mosaicing sits at the core of many optical mapping applications with mobile robotic platforms. As these platforms have been evolving rapidly and increasing their capabilities, the amount of data they are able to collect is increasing drastically. For this reason, the necessity for efficient methods to handle and process such big data has been rising from different scientific fields, where...
Chromatic Aberration of lenses is becoming increasingly visible with the rise of sensor resolution, and methods to algorithmically correct it are becoming increasingly common in commercial systems. A popular class of algorithms undo the geometric distortions after demosaicking. Since most demosaickers require high frequency correlation of primary colors to work effectively, the result is artifa...
In this paper we extend existing mosaicing algorithms to deal with image sequences that are captured over a wide spatial area, exhibit large geometric and photometric distortions, and contain significant additive noise and other contaminations, such as light reflections. The paper focuses on three main contributions. (1) We extend the camera model used for mosaicing to deal, not only with geome...
