We present two patients with complaints of shoulder pain after an epileptic seizure. Both patients had a posterior dislocation fracture of the shoulder. After reviewing the literature the following conclusions can be drawn: (1) A posterior shoulder dislocation fracture is rare. (2) One should not underestimate the muscular forces in seizure disorders and be alert for dislocation fractures of th...

Dorsal traumatic dislocation of metatarsophalangeal joint of great toe is a rare injury. Ability to reduce the dislocation by nonoperative measures depends largely on the type of dislocation and involvement of the sesamoid complex. There are three basic types of dislocations. Type I cases are usually irreducible on closed reduction, the metatarsal head being incarcerated by the conjoined tendon...

In children cubitus varus is common after malunion of a supracondylar fracture of the humerus. Later problems such as tardy ulnar nerve palsy, snapping of the lateral triceps tendon or ulnar nerve and posterolateral rotatory instability are well documented. We present a case of anteromedial dislocation of the entire triceps tendon with loss of extensor power and describe the method of treatment.

Pathological fractures as a consequence of convulsive seizures without direct trauma occur in 0.3% of cases. Some lesions such as bilateral posterior dislocation of the shoulder, fracture-dislocation of the shoulder or fracture and/or dislocation of the hip strongly suggest a seizure as the aetiology. We report on a patient with simultaneous central dislocation of one hip with fracture of the c...

L5S1 fracture-dislocations are rare three-column injuries. The infrequency of this injury has led to a lack of a universally accepted treatment strategy. Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) has been shown to be an effective approach for interbody fusion in degenerative indications, but has not been previously reported in the operative management of traumatic lumbosacral dislocation. T...
