The high performance of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) leads this composite to become one the favourite research topics in engineering. GFRP is widely used building structure and other engineering application. In design structures, damage-tolerant consideration essential, especially under environmental factor dynamic effect. Hence, damage stability loadings should be investigated. study,...

• Recycled carbon fibres were used for laminate interlayer toughening. The commingled rCFs/Polyphenylene-sulfid showed excellent toughening performance. mode-I and mode-II fracture energies of the significantly increased by 220% 105%, respectively. This study demonstrated an attractive application recycled fibres. Exploring routes effective use (rCFs) is critical to close loop in life cycle wor...

The effect of microstructural variations on the fracture toughness of Alloy 718 was reviewed. The metallurgical parameters surveyed in this paper included heat treatment, heat-to-heat variations, product-form variations, neutron irradiation and long-term thermal aging. Key microstructural features and operative fracture mechanisms were related to macroscopic fracture toughness properties.

Nowadays, application of cermet coatings deposited by High-Velocity Oxygen-Fuel (HVOF) has received considerable attention in a variety of industries. Carbide coatings have high surface roughness, so it is essential to grind the coated surface. The present investigation studied the effect of simultaneous changes in the grinding parameters including the depth of cut, feed rate and cutting sp...

The unsustainable use of resources and the rising demand for traditional concrete have disrupted ecological equilibrium, necessitating adoption a more appropriate long-lasting alternative. One such substitute cement in production is geopolymer concrete, although this material prone to cracking fracturing due its low tensile strength, leading costly repairs or even structural collapse. Fiber-rei...

This paper presents a novel Membrane Deflection Fracture Experiment (MDFE) to investigate the fracture toughness of MEMS and other advanced materials in thin film form. It involves the stretching of freestanding thin-film membranes, in a fixed-fixed configuration, containing pre-existing cracks. The fracture behavior of ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD), a material developed at Argonne Nation...
