Up to the present not many papers or discussions on milling in this country have been compiled, and it is hoped tiiat this paper may tend to promote future discussions upon a subject which is highly important to the Sugar Industry. . Further, it is riot the intention of the writer to boost anyone make of machinery, and although he may touch on one or two units in particular by name, it is his d...

Here we used dilute oxalic acid to pretreat a kraft bleached Eucalyptus pulp (BEP) fibers to facilitate mechanical fibrillation in producing cellulose nanofibrils using disk milling with substantial mechanical energy savings. We successfully applied a reaction kinetics based combined hydrolysis factor (CHFX) as a severity factor to quantitatively control xylan dissolution and BEP fibril deploym...

The effect of mechanical milling on materials has been studied using simple model systems. The results show that milling leads to enhancement in both thermodynamic driving force and transport kinetics. A study of some characteristic physical properties of the milled samples in comparison to the bulk shows how milling affects the properties.

In this work, we present the role of vanadium ions (V+5 and V+3), oxygen vacancies (VO), and interstitial zinc (Zni) to the contribution of specific magnetization for a mixture of ZnO-V2O5 nanoparticles (NPs). Samples were obtained by mechanical milling of dry powders and ethanol-assisted milling for 1 h with a fixed atomic ratio V/Zn?=?5% at. For comparison, pure ZnO samples were also prepared...

In the modern manufacturing systems, the use of thermal cutting techniques using oxyfuel, plasma and laser have become indispensable for the shape forming of high quality complex components; however, the conventional chip removal production techniques still have its widespread space in the manufacturing industry. Both these types of machining operations require the positioning of end effector t...

Among artificial intelligence approaches, artificial neural networks (ANNs) and genetic algorithm (GA) are widely applied for modification of materials property in engineering science in large scale modeling. In this work artificial neural network (ANN) and genetic algorithm (GA) were applied to find the optimal conditions for achieving the maximum hardness of Al6061 reinforced by multiwall car...

A powder mixtures of 18.72% wt, 17.67% wt Al2O3 and 63.6% wt zircon were prepared and milled in a planetary ball milled for one up to 10 hours in presence of air. After removal Iron impurity from as-milled samples, they were isothermally heated in temperature range of 1300-1450 0C for one hour in an air atmosphere. After cooling the samples, they were studied using XRD analyses. The XRD and PSA...

The synthesis of advanced materials from low cost minerals concentrates is a new field of study that has great potential applications. In this paper, the effect of milling time on the temperature of initiation and amount of carbothermic reduction of ilmenite has been investigated. The stoichiometric molar ratio (1:4) of ilmenite to graphite was mixed and mechanically activatedfor 30-70 hours at...

In this research, mechanical alloying was used to produce Ti-50Al, Ti-45Al-5Cr and Ti-45Al-5W (at%) alloys. The effect of ternary addition (Cr and W) on microstructure and production efficiency of TiAl alloy were investigated. Alloying was performed in a planetary mill and the milling time varying from 5 to 70h. The structural evaluation in these powders was done by X-ray diffraction (XRD) tech...

Given proprieties of tool-workpiece materials, the experimental model of milling stress measurement is set as boundary condition for finite element analysis during milling process. The residual stress is the main reason of workpiece deformation. It is analyzed and computed using the finite element method. The idea of living and dead element is employed to model the material removal process whil...
