Copolymerisation of an Osmium (II) functionalised pyrrole moiety, Osmium -bis-N,N’-(2,2’bipyridyl)-N-(pyridine-4-ylmethyl-(8-pyrrole-1yl-octyl)-amine)chloride (1) with 3methylthiophene was carried out. The resulting conducting polymer film exhibited a clear redox couple associated with the Os response and the familiar conducting polymer backbone signature. The effect of film thickness upon the ...
The objective of the present study is to develop and investigate the swelling behavior of pH-sensitive Superporous Hydrogel (SPH) and SPH composite (SPHC). A novel superporous hydrogel containing poly (methacrylic acid-co-acrylamide) was synthesized from methacrylic acid and acrylamide through the aqueous solution polymerization, using N,N-methylenebisacrylamide as a crosslinker and ammonium...
The mixed-metal oxo clusters LnTi4O3(OiPr)2(OMc)11 (Ln = La, Ce; OMc = methacrylate), Ln2Ti6O6(OMc)18(HOiPr) (Ln = La, Ce, Nd, Sm) and Ln2Ti4O4(OMc)14(HOMc)2 (Ln = Sm, Eu, Gd, Ho) have been synthesized from titanium isopropoxide, the corresponding lanthanide acetate and methacrylic acid. The type of cluster obtained strongly depends on the size of the lanthanide ion.
In previous papers (1,2) the thermotropic properties and the kinetics of the bulk polymerization of the mesomorphic monomer cholesteryl acrylate have been described. In addition to cholesteryl acrylate, the methacrylate was prepared, as well as the respective acrylic methacrylic acid ester of cholestanol. We now wish to report the properties of these monomeric esters and the results of their po...
A new, simple, two-step method is introduced for preparing hollow particles that are both pH-responsive and redox sensitive. Hollow poly(methyl methacrylate-co-methacrylic acid) particles swell at moderate pH values, form gels in concentrated dispersions and can be disassembled by adding reducing agents.
Abstract The structure of model compounds for the amphiphilic copolymer poly(diisobutylene‐ alt ‐maleic acid), DIBMA, is investigated with (gas phase) B3LYP/6‐31G** and PM7 calculations. It found that in monoprotonated state repeating unit strong (about 70 kJ mol −1 ) ionic hydrogen bonds are formed within succinate rings, which impart partial structural rigidity on backbone copolymer. Based li...
