Listeria monocytogenes is an important pathogen responsible for major outbreaks associated with food products. Adhesion to surfaces leads to significant modifications in cell physiology. The aim of this work was to determine the adhesion ability of 10 isolates of L. monocytogenes to eight materials commonly used in kitchens and to evaluate the viability of the adhered cells. The materials assay...

the ali-abad porphyry copper deposit is located in the central iranian magmatic belt. as a result of subduction magmatism, oligo-miocene leucogranitoid rocks have intruded into conglomerates of lower cretaceous age. due to contact metamorphism the following mineral assemblage has occurred in the altered conglomerate: garnet (andradite-grossular) + epidote+ quartz + calcite + pyrite skarnificati...

Metamorphic sequences have been examined from contact aureole of Mashhad granite. According to field evidences and textural features, contact aureole of Mashhad granite belongs to contact facies series of type 2b. Therefore, a pressure range from 3.5 to 4.5 Kbar and a contact temperature of around 600 °C is estimated for the formation of this aureole.

Lead (Pb) is a non-threshold toxin capable of inducing toxic effects at any blood level but availability of soil screening criteria for assessing potential health risks is limited. The oral bioaccessibility of Pb in 163 soil samples was attributed to sources through solubility estimation and domain identification. Samples were extracted following the Unified BARGE Method. Urban, mineralisation,...

The adsorption of Triton X-100 in aqueous solution on the granite sand has been investigated to evaluate its ability as an adsorbent. Various parameters such as agitation time, adsorbent dose, adsorbent size, initial concentration of adsorbate, pH, temperature, and effect of interference ions were studied on the laboratory scale to establish optimum conditions for the removal of TX-100 from the...

Studies conducted under a major project sponsored by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences in the 1970’s concluded that the small mammal fauna of the semiarid Caatinga region of Brazil is impoverished and highly restricted to mesic granite outcroppings due to the lack of water conserving physiological capabilities in its species. This work focuses the abundance of small mammals in five typical Caat...

It is important to estimate conductivity and permittivity of formation around a borehole. Arrival time and amplitude of the direct wave in single-hole borehole radar is related to the electromagnetic parameters. In this paper, we propose a liner array of dipole antenna elements in a borehole for a receiver. We introduced an optical modulator to transfer the received array signals to optical sig...
