Fe(3)O(4):PVP/Au nanocomposite synthesized via a two-step procedure was tested as a quasi-homogenous alcohol oxidation catalyst. It was found that the nanocomposite was able to carry out aerobic oxidation of alcohols in water at room temperature. Studies show rapid magnetic recoverability and reusability characteristics.
A magnetic nanoparticle-supported Pd catalyst was readily prepared from inexpensive starting materials and shown to catalyze various oxidation reactions with high turnover number (TON) and excellent selectivity. The ease of recovery using an external magnetic field, high activity, and the intrinsic stability of the catalyst make this protocol economic and sustainable.

A poly(2-vinylpyridine)-block-poly(2-(4-vinylphenyl)pyridine) (P2VP106-b-PVPPy95) coil-coil diblock copolymer forms hollow flower micelles in a mixed solvent of methanol and water (95/5, v/v) in a one step process. The geometry and composition of the micelles allow formation of a Pt-Au bimetallic dendritic nanocatalyst with a Pt leaf at room temperature.
A ZnO nanocatalyst with a high percentage exposure of (0001) facets embedded on a hierarchical flower-like matrix has been prepared by an in situ topotactic transformation of a layered double hydroxide precursor, and exhibits significantly higher visible light photocatalytic performance than other ZnO nanomaterials with fewer exposed (0001) facets.
A number of recent publications explain NBTI to consist of a recoverable and a more permanent component. While a lot of information has been gathered on the recoverable component, the permanent component has been somewhat elusive. We demonstrate that oxide defects commonly linked to the recoverable component also form an important contribution to the permanent component of NBTI. As such, they c...
This paper addresses a model problem of nonlinear homogenization motivated by the study of the shape-memory effect in polycrystalline media. Specifically, it numerically computes the set of recoverable strains in a polycrystal given the set of recoverable strains of a single crystal in the two dimensional scalar (or antiplane shear) setting. This problem shares a direct analogy with crystal pla...
Recently, the recoverable robustness model has been introduced in the optimization area. This model allows to consider disruptions (input data changes) in a unified way, that is, during both the strategic planning phase and the operational phase. Although the model represents a significant improvement, it has the following drawback: we are typically not facing only one disruption, but many of t...
