本研究では,ベントナイトの陽イオン交換容量(CEC)および各種浸出陽イオン量(LC)の測定方法について,ベントナイトの種類に着目して各手法を比較,検討した.試験方法は,酢酸アンモニウム,塩化バリウムおよび塩化ベンジルトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド(BTM)を用いる三種である.本研究にて改良した塩化バリウムを用いる方法と酢酸アンモニウムを用いる方法から得られた CEC は,6 種のベントナイトにおいて の差異が最大 8.8 cmol(+)/kg であり,おおむね一致することが分かった.また,BTMを交換溶媒とする測定方法では随伴鉱物の溶解が抑えることが可能であり,各種LCの合計からCECを,各種LCから交換性陽イオンの組成を推定可能であることを示した.
