We consider t-designs with *=1 (generalized Steiner systems) for which the block size is not necessarily constant. An inequality for the number of blocks is derived. For t=2, this inequality is the well known De Bruijn Erdo s inequality. For t>2 it has the same order of magnitude as the Wilson Petrenjuk inequality for Steiner systems with constant block size. The point of this note is that the ...
One of the famous mathematical inequalities is Minkowski’s inequality. It is an important inequality from both mathematical and application points of view. In this paper, a Minkowski type inequality for fuzzy integrals is studied. The established results are based on the classical Minkowski inequality for integrals. Moreover, a generalized Minkowski type inequality for fuzzy integrals is sugges...

In our preceding note, we discussed a generalized Schwarz inequality, an improvement of the Heinz-Kato-Furuta inequality and an inequality related to the Furuta inequality. In succession, we give further discussions on them from the viewpoint of the covarianc...
Abstract—This paper uses a primary data from 670 Chinese manufacturing firms, together with the newly introduced regressionbased inequality decomposition method, to study the effect of openness on wage inequality. We find that openness leads to a positive industry wage premium, but its contribution to firm-level wage inequality is relatively small, only 4.69%. The major contributor to wage ineq...
"Using the 1986/87 Household Budget Survey of Lesotho, we measure the extent of inequality, identify the determinants of economic well-being and decompose total inequality by population subgroups. The results show large inequality in economic well-being. Many households in Lesotho are heavily dependent on miners' remittances from the Republic of South Africa. In the study we quantify their effe...
This study shows that a refinement of the Hilbert inequality for double series can be established by introducing a real function u x and a parameter λ. In particular, some sharp results of the classical Hilbert inequality are obtained by means of a sharpening of the Cauchy inequality. As applications, some refinements of both the Fejer-Riesz inequality and Hardy inequality inHp function are given.
Article history: Received 8 January 2010 Using social tables, we make an estimate of global inequality (inequality among world citizens) in early 19th century. We then show that the level and composition of global inequality have changed over the last two centuries. The level has increased reaching a high plateau around 1950s, and the main determinants of global inequality have become differenc...
The Center has over 125 Stanford University faculty affiliates, national and international fellows, student affiliates, and visiting scholars and fellows. These affiliates and fellows are engaged in core research on trends in poverty and inequality, the sources of poverty and inequality, the consequences of poverty and inequality, and the effects of policy initiatives on poverty and inequality....
We establish a sharp homogeneous inequality which extends both the classical weighted AM-GM inequality and the Turkevich inequality.
