Jatropha curcas oil and its toxic fraction were evaluated at different dilutions i.e., 1%,5%,10%,20% against Microcerotermes beesoni, the test termite. The maximum wood protection against termites of both the treatments were obtained at their highest concentration i.e. 20%. The weight loss ranged from 18.77% to 48.80% at concentrations of 20% to 1% of Jatropha curcas oil formulation. The protec...

Background The ability of species to adapt to different environments resides in their genetic diversity. This diversity, most commonly manifested as Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs), can provide clues to the adaptive processes and population histories that have played a role in the species’ evolution. A number of different techniques for identifying SNPs have been developed, all having th...

This paper investigated the feasibility of developing alternative insulating nanofluid from a mixture Jatropha and Neem oils into which compositions 0.2 to 1.0 wt% titanium oxide nanoparticles were dispersed. FTIR, SEM–EDX XRD analyses carried out. The DC AC breakdown voltages measured analysed using Weibull statistical tool. In analysis, it was observed that characteristic field strength PJO i...

In the present study, ten RAPD primers were used to assess molecular polymorphism in twenty Jatropha curcas genotypes. A total of 47 amplified products were obtained out of which 44 were polymorphic and 3 were monomorphic. Average polymorphism across twenty genotypes was found to be 93.61 %. For the genotypes tested, 6 to 11 bands were obtained, with an average of 7.83 bands per primer. The siz...

BACKGROUND Ever increasing demand for fossil fuels is a major factor for rapid depletion of these non-renewable energy resources, which has enhanced the interest of finding out alternative sources of energy. In recent years jatropha seed oil has been used extensively for production of bio-diesel and has shown significant potential to replace petroleum fuels at least partially. De-oiled jatropha...

BACKGROUND Economical cultivation of the oilseed crop Jatropha curcas is currently hampered in part due to the non-availability of purpose-bred cultivars. Although genetic maps and genome sequence data exist for this crop, marker-assisted breeding has not yet been implemented due to a lack of available marker-trait association studies. To identify the location of beneficial alleles for use in p...

BACKGROUND The enzymatic production of biodiesel through alcoholysis of triglycerides has become more attractive because it shows potential in overcoming the drawbacks of chemical processes. In this study, we investigate the production of biodiesel from crude, non-edible Jatropha oil and methanol to characterize Burkholderia cepacia lipase immobilized in an n-butyl-substituted hydrophobic silic...

This study aims to determine the formulation of jatropha curcas gel preparations as a burn healer, characteristics and physical properties preparations, theeffectiveness ofjatropha healer.
The method in this used an experimental with five treatments. treatments are: P1 (4% sap), P2 (8% P3 (16% P4 (Negative control), P5 (Positive Control).
results showed that positively contained sap...
