We show that Gul and Pesendorfer’s [Econometrica 69 (2001) 1403] representation result for preferences with temptation and self-control can be reexpressed in terms of a costly intrapersonal conflict between a Planner and Doer, as in Thaler and Shefrin [J. Political Econ. 89 (1981) 392] and psychologists’ standard view of self-control problems.  2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Do the Reciprocal Trust Less? We study the intrapersonal relationship between trust and reciprocity in a laboratory experiment. Reciprocal subjects trust significantly more than selfish ones. This finding raises questions about theories of social preferences which predict that “fairer” players should trust less. JEL Classification: C91, D63

Studies have shown that difference in mtDNA mutation load among tissues is a result of postnatal modification. We present five family members with the m.8344A>G with variable phenotypes but uniform intrapersonal distribution of mutation load, indicating that there is no postnatal modification of mtDNA mutation load in this genotype.

This project is to implement a 2D face recognition algorithm proposed in [2], which models the density of intrapersonal and extrapersonal face space separately with a single Gaussian for each, and thus uses Bayesian theory to do classification. It includes both maximum a posteriori (MAP) and maximum likelihood (ML) decision. Besides, we will try two improvements: one is to use Gaussian Mixture ...

The ECERS-R contains 7 subscales (see “Measurement Areas” section above for scales) that trained ECERS-R observer/scorers must complete. Each subscale consists of 4 – 10 items that provide an overall profile of the subscale based on observer ratings. The observer assigns a descriptive value, on a scale from 1 – 7 (1 = Inadequate and 7 = Excellent), that describes the quality of the early childh...
