In this paper, we obtain some Rosenthal’s type inequalities for negatively orthant dependent (NOD) random variables.
We derive tight Bell's inequalities for N>2 observers involving more than two alternative measurement settings. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a general quantum state to violate the new inequalities. The inequalities are violated by some classes of states, for which all standard Bell's inequalities with two measurement settings per observer are satisfied.
Inequalities in health between rich and poor areas of Britain widened in the 1980s and 1990s, and the current government has repeatedly expressed its intention to reduce these inequalities. In this article, however, the authors report that inequalities in life expectancy have continued to widen, alongside widening inequalities in income and wealth, and argue that more potent and redistributive ...
We investigate Chern number inequalities on Kähler-Einstein manifolds and their relation to uniformization. For Kähler-Einstein manifolds with c1 > 0, we prove certain Chern number inequalities in the toric case. For Kähler-Einstein manifolds with c1 < 0, we propose a series of Chern number inequalities, interpolating Yau’s and Miyaoka’s inequalities.
We prove several complexity results about the gap inequalities for the max-cut problem, including: (i) the gap-1 inequalities do not imply the other gap inequalities, unless NP = CoNP; (ii) there must exist non-redundant gap inequalities with exponentially large coefficients, unless NP = CoNP; (iii) the associated separation problem can be solved in finite (doubly exponential) time.
In recent years, health inequalities have become an important public health concern and the subject of both research and policy attention in Korea. Government reports, as well as many epidemiological studies, have provided evidence that a wide range of health outcomes and health-related behaviors are socioeconomically patterned, and that the magnitude of health inequalities is even increasing. ...
We introduce a concept of dual consistency of systems of linear inequalities with full generality. We show that a cardinality constrained polytope is represented by a certain system of linear inequalities if and only if the systems of linear inequalities associated with the cardinalities are dual consistent. Typical dual consistent systems of inequalities are those which describe polymatroids, ...
the aim of this study was to determine the socioeconomic inequalities in nonuse of seatbelts in cars and helmets on motorcycles in kurdistan province, west of iran, 2009.the data used in this study was collected from the data gathered in non-communicable disease surveillance system (ncdss) in 2009 in kurdistan. a total of 1000 people were included in this study. the outcome variable of this stu...
Objective To compare the magnitude of, and contributors to, income-related inequalities in oral health outcomes within and between Canada and the United States over time. Methods The concentration index was used to estimate income-related inequalities in three oral health outcomes from the Nutrition Canada National Survey 1970-1972, Canadian Health Measures Survey 2007-2009, Health and Nutrit...
In this paper we prove a countable set of non-Shannon-type linear information inequalities for entropies of discrete random variables, i.e., information inequalities which cannot be reduced to the “basic” inequality I(X : Y |Z) ≥ 0. Our results generalize the inequalities of Z. Zhang and R. Yeung (1998) who found the first examples of non-Shannon-type information inequalities.
