In the title compound, C(16)H(14)Cl(2)N(2)O(4)·H(2)O, the hydrazine and water mol-ecules are both located on twofold axes. The C-N-N-C torsion angle is -72.66 (1)° and the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 67.33 (1)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a layer structure by a combination of O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Adjacent layers are linked into a three-dimen...
Abstract Hydrazine is a hazardous chemical commonly used as a reactant in rocket and jet fuel cells. Animal studies have demonstrated hepatic changes after hydrazine inhalation. Human case reports of hydrazine inhalation hepatotoxicity are rare. We report a case of mild hepatotoxicity following brief hydrazine vapour inhalation in a healthy young man, which resolved completely on expectant mana...
A model for the quantitative treatment of molecular systems possessing mixed valence excited states is introduced and used to explain observed spectroscopic consequences. The specific example studied in this paper is 1,4-bis(2-tert-butyl-2,3-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-yl)-2,3,5,6-tetramethylbenzene-1,4-diyl dication. The lowest energy excited state of this molecule arises from a transition from t...
The crystal structure of a previously unreported polymorph (form II) of 2,4-dinitro-phenyl-hydrazine (DNPH), C6H6N4O4, was determined at 90 K. The first polymorph (form I) is described in the monoclinic space group P21/c [Okabe et al. (1993 ▶). Acta Cryst. C49, 1678-1680; Wardell et al. (2006 ▶). Acta Cryst. C62, o318-320], whereas form II is in the monoclinic space group Cc. The mol-ecular str...
The title compound, C19H15N3O2, shows an E conformation of the imine bond. The dihedral angle between the planes of the phenyl rings in the di-phenyl-hydrazine groups is 88.52 (4)°. The 2-nitro-benzene ring shows a torsion angle of 10.17 (8)° with the C=N-N plane. A short intra-molecular C-H⋯O contact occurs. In the crystal, only van der Waals contacts occur between the mol-ecules.
The reactivity of hydrazine in the presence of diborane has been investigated using ab initio quantum chemical computations (MP2 and CCSD(T) methods with the aug-cc-pVTZ basis set). Portions of the relevant potential energy surface were constructed to probe the formation mechanism of the hydrazine diborane (BH(3)BH(3)NH(2)NH(2)) and hydrazine bisborane (BH(3)NH(2)NH(2)BH(3)). The differences be...
Thompson, P. J. (University of Nebraska, Lincoln) and T. L. Thompson. Some characteristics of a purified heat-stable aldolase. J. Bacteriol. 84:694-700. 1962-Aldolase from a thermophilic strain of bacteria was obtained in a state of high purity. Heat studies of purified aldolases from cells cultivated at 45 and 65 C showed them equally stable at 70 C for 1 hr. Metal-ion and chelate studies indi...
In the title mol-ecule, C(12)H(12)N(6), the dihedral angles between the pyridine rings and the central dimethan-imine-hydrazine group are 0.30 (3) and 13.94 (3)°. Two intra-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds stabilize the planar conformation of one pyridine ring with respect to its hydrazine-residue neighbour, whereas the other pyridine ring and an N-bonded H atom are rotated out of the plane and l...
ZrP2O7 nanoparticles have been used as an efficient catalyst for the preparation of 2-aryl-5-methyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-3-pyrazolones by a simple one-pot four-component reaction of phenyl hydrazines, ethyl acetoacetate ,β-naphthol and benzaldehydes under microwave irradiation in good to excellent yields. When the reaction was carried out using ZrOCl2.8H2O, ZrO2 and ZrP2O7 NPs as the catalyst, the pr...
