BACKGROUND Hot air ballooning incidents are relatively rare; however, when they do occur they are likely to result in a fatality or serious injury. Human error is commonly attributed as the cause of hot air ballooning incidents; however, error in itself is not an explanation for safety failures. This research aims to identify and establish the relative importance of factors contributing toward ...

As part of a major airport expansion and renovation, the Port of Portland opted to substantially expand the airports parking facilities. Not only was an additional 95’ of structure added to the west side of the garage, but four entirely new floors were added to the top of the three-level concrete structure. To access the garage, two cast-in-place concrete helixes were constructed on the east si...

The study tested whether place attachment enhances the place satisfaction among visitors of the multiplex cinema in Tehran-Iran. Structural equation modeling was employed on a sample of 220 visitors. Regression models were estimated to test the relationship of place attachment and place satisfactions of visitors. Place attachment has the four dimensions of place dependence, place identity, plac...

one of temperature estates is hot day occurrence. in order to recognize the mechanism of this estate, surveying its spatial behavior is crucially important. in current paper it has been attempted to recognized widespread hot days and their spatial distribution by using statistical methods. accordingly maximum temperature database of iran during 1962-2008 has been used. the analyses result has i...

We present space-efficient algorithms for computing the convex hull of a simple polygonal line in-place, in linear time. It turns out that the problem is as hard as in-place stable partition, i.e., if there were a truly simple solution then in-place stable partition would also have a truly simple solution, and vice versa. Nevertheless, we present a simple self-contained solution that uses O(log...

The main aim of this paper is to provide an overview of current debates concerning the role of the mammalian hippocampus in learning with a particular emphasis on spatial learning. The review discusses recent debates on (1) the role of the primate hippocampus in recognition memory and object-in-place memory, (2) the role of the hippocampus in spatial navigation in both rats and humans, and (3) ...

Non-numeric algorithms have been largely ignored in parallel benchmarking suites. Prior studies have concentrated mainly on the computational speed of processors within very regular and structured numeric codes. In this paper, we survey the current state of non-numeric benchmark algorithms and investigate the use of in-place merging as a suitable candidate for this role. In-place merging enjoys...

Commercially available tools for searching collections of paint colors are critically examined and a new computer interface for selecting household paint colors is proposed. The new system is organized according to a perceptual color space and uses modeless, constrained, in-place, 3D interaction. Two user studies are performed to evaluate this system and the results are discussed. These studies...

We present the lifting scheme, a simple construction of second generation wavelets; these are wavelets that are not necessarily translates and dilates of one fixed function. Such wavelets can be adapted to intervals, domains, surfaces, weights, and irregular samples. We show how the lifting scheme leads to a faster, in-place calculation of the wavelet transform. Several examples are included.

This paper presents a new in-place pseudo linear radix sorting algorithm. The proposed algorithm, called MSL (Map Shuffle Loop) is an improvement over ARL (Maus, 2002). The ARL algorithm uses an in-place permutation loop of linear complexity in terms of input size. MSL uses a faster permutation loop searching for the next element to permute group by group, instead of element by element. The alg...
