Post-chiasmatic damage to the visual system leads homonymous field defects (HVDs), which can severely interfere with daily life activities. Visual Restitution Training (VRT) recover parts of affected in patients chronic HVDs, but training outcome is variable. An untested hypothesis suggests that potential may be largest regions ‘neural reserve’, where cortical responses stimulation do not lead ...

is a male-female predilection of 2:1. It has been described as freely mobile, well circumscribed, and subcuticular. Although the clinical characteristics of fibrous hamartoma have been variably reported, it has unique microscopic features. All prior cases consistently report well-defined traversing bundles of dense fibrocollagenous tissue, immature loose-textured mesenchyme, and increased areas...

Vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia (VBD) is a relatively rare disorder for which unfortunately there is no treatment. Here we describe a case of simultaneous pre- and postchiasmal visual pathway pathology secondary to a space occupying VBD. In addition our patient demonstrates one of the very few cases of VBD compression of the retrochiasmal pathway with no other cranial nerve involvement.

OBJECTIVES We describe a novel rehabilitation tool for patients with homonymous hemianopia based on a visual search (VS) paradigm that is portable, inexpensive, and easy to deploy. We hypothesised that by training patients to improve the efficiency of eye movements made in their blind field their disability would be alleviated. METHODS Twenty nine patients with homonymous visual field defects...

Multi-component models of visual hemi-neglect have postulated that visual hemi-neglect is characterised by various attentional deficits. A grey scales task has been developed to quantify the early, automatic, (perhaps obligatory) ipsilesional orienting of visual attention, frequently assumed as the first of these attentional deficits. Explanations for this attentional imbalance are up until now...

PURPOSE While prisms are commonly prescribed for homonymous hemianopia to extend or expand the visual field, they cause potentially troubling visual side effects, including nonveridical location of perceived images, diplopia, and visual confusion. In addition, the field behind a prism at its apex is lost to an apical scotoma equal in magnitude to the amount of prism shift. The perceptual conseq...
