We evaluate the contribution of the final state interaction (FSI) due to single pion exchange inelastic scattering for D+ → K̄0∗π+ and D+ → K̄0ρ+ processes. The effects are found to be very significant. The hadronic matrix elements of the weak transition are calculated in terms of the heavy quark effective theory (HQET), so are less modeldependent and more reliable. PACS number(s): 13.75.Lb, 13.2...

a [ We review the meson-exchange model for charmonium absorption by hadrons. This includes the construction of the interaction Lagrangians, the determination of the coupling constants, the introduction of form factors, and the predicted cross sections for J/ψ absorption by both mesons and nucleons. We further discuss the effects due to anomalous parity interactions, uncertainties in form factor...

Particle physics and gauge field theories are frontiers of fundamental sciences of matter. According to Yang and Mills, any basic theory of interacting matter should satisfy gauge invariance. QCD has been accepted to be the most successful gauge theory of strongly interacting particles. In QCD, hadronic matter is composed of quarks, and interactions between them are mediated by eight massless g...

The strongly repulsive core of the short-range nucleon-nucleon interaction leads to the existence of high-momentum nucleons in nuclei. Inclusive electron scattering can be used to probe these high-momentum nucleons and study the nature of the corresponding short-range correlations in nuclei. With recent data from Jefferson Lab we have begun to map out the strength of two-nucleon correlations in...

In e+e−-annihilation the total hadronic cross section is given by the probability to produce an initial qq̄ pair, which is determined by QED. The effects of the strong interaction is here only a correction with relative magnitude αs/π. The emission of a gluon cascade is, however, essential for the properties of the final state, although it does not change the total cross section. Here angular or...

Hadronic atoms are highly non-relativistic loosely bound systems of hadrons mainly formed by the Coulomb interaction. The study of these hadronic bound states has seen growing interest during recent years, because they provide important information on the behavior of QCD at low-energy. The DIRAC collaboration 1 at CERN measures the lifetime of the ππ atom, and plans to determine the ππ scatteri...

We propose a new scenario to explain the observed cosmological asymmetry between matter and antimatter, based on nonperturbative physics at the QCD scale. Our scenario relies on a mechanism of separation of matter and antimatter which would be in two different phases: conventional hadronic phase and novel, color superconducting phase. We argue that chunks of quarks or antiquarks in condensed co...

While the vacuum properties of most hadrons are known to reasonable accuracy today, it is a much-debated question how these properties change in nuclear matter. In particular for the light vector mesons there have been various theoretical predictions regarding their in-medium properties. One of the expected in-medium effects is the so-called ’collisinal broadening’ of the meson spectral functio...

We introduce a transport approach which combines partonic and hadronic degrees of freedom on an equal footing and discuss the resulting reaction dynamics. The initial parton dynamics is modeled in the framework of the parton cascade model, hadronization is performed via a cluster hadroniza-tion model and configuration space coalescence, and the hadronic phase is described by a microscopic hadro...

Diquarks may play an important role in hadronic physics particularly near the phase transitions (chiral, deconfinement points). By using vector diquark ideas in the chiral limit diquark correlations in the relativistic region and imposing HF interactions between quarks in a vector diquark, we calculate the mass of Theta pentaquark state. Also by using the tunnelling method we simultaneously c...
