For many years the emphasis in protein-folding simulations has been laid as to how to predict the three dimensional structure of proteins. Only recently has there be a shift in interest towards the the thermodynamics of folding. We show that generalized-ensemble techniques are well suited to study both questions for realistic protein models.
On the basis of a bioinformatic approach, we suggest that in invertebrates many ligands interact with a single, ancestral and generalized receptor driving ligand evolution. In vertebrates, on the other hand, the occurrence of gene/genome duplications induced the shift to a ligand-directed evolution of receptors.
OBJECTIVES Lack of physical activity (PA) has been hypothesised as an underlying mechanism in the adverse health effects of shift work. Therefore, our aim was to compare non-occupational PA levels between shift workers and non-shift workers. Furthermore, exposure-response relationships for frequency of night shifts and years of shift work regarding non-occupational PA levels were studied. MET...
The Witten’s supersymmetric interpretation of harmonic oscillator in one dimension (D = 1) is generalized to any D > 1. The emerging centrifugal barriers are regularized via a small imaginary shift of coordinates. The resulting PT symmetrized supersymmetry sl(1/1) interrelates the spiked oscillator partners with different strengths of the barrier. The innovated form of the creation and annihila...
We demonstrate the existence of a global attractor A with a Cantor set structure for the renormalization of critical circle mappings. The set A is invariant under a generalized renormalization transformation, whose action on A is conjugate to the twosided shift.
This paper is a detailed description of an algorithm based on a generalized Buchberger algorithm for constructing Gröbner-type bases associated with polynomials of shift operators. The algorithm is used for calculating Feynman integrals and has proven itself efficient in several complicated cases. E-mail: [email protected] Supported in part by RFBR, grant 05-01-00988
The design of a generalized phase-controlled class E inverter is presented. This design takes into account most of the important parameters which a ect the inverter performance. Moreover, we calculate the design values which achieve zero voltage switching continuously when phase-shift of two inverters varies.
Introduction: In balanced SSFP for angiography, blood and muscle are inherently differentiated via the T2/T1 contrast. Fat signal suppression, however, relies on contrast preparation or chemical shift manipulation. The disadvantages of the former include regular interruption of the steady state MR signal, and fat signal regrowth during data acquisition. The latter can be divided into multiple v...
A variable c(t) has been previously proposed as an alternative to dark energy as the cause for the apparent acceleration of the universe found with supernovae Ia on high red-shift galaxies, but without an analytic expression for c(t). We have herein derived a variable photon velocity from the assumption of anisotropic and homogeneous universe which is consistent with being the physical photon v...
This paper introduces a novel framework and corresponding methods for sampling reconstruction of sparse signals in shift-invariant (SI) spaces. We reinterpret the random demodulator, system that acquires bandlimited signals, as acquisition linear combinations samples SI setting with box function kernel. The sparsity assumption is exploited by compressive sensing (CS) paradigm recovery from redu...
