background and objectives: evaluating the performance of clinical units is critical for effective managementof health settings. certain assessment of clinical variables for performance analysis is not always possible, calling for use of uncertainty theory. this study aimed to develop and evaluate an integrated independentcomponent analysis-fuzzy-data envelopment analysis approach to accurate the...

Identifying a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear incident (CBRN) is a challenge. Evidence and health symptoms resulting from CBRN malevolent incident overlap with other normal non malevolent human activities. However, proper fusion of symptoms and evidence can aid in drawing conclusions with a certain degree of credibility about the existence of an incident. There are two types of ...

Research, monitoring and management of large marine protected areas require detailed and up-to-date habitat maps. Ningaloo Marine Park (including the Muiron Islands) in north-western Australia (stretching across three degrees of latitude) was mapped to 20 m depth using HyMap airborne hyperspectral imagery (125 bands) at 3.5 m resolution across the 762 km(2) of reef environment between the shore...

The concept of a fuzzy set was introduced by Zadeh [13], and later Chang [3] defined fuzzy topological spaces. These spaces and their generalizations are later studied by several authors, one of which, developed by Šostak [11, 12], used the idea of degree of openness. This type of generalization of fuzzy topological spaces was later rephrased by Chattopadhyay et al. [4], and by Ramadan [10]. In...

In this paper a knowledge representation model are proposed, FP5, which combine the ideas from fuzzy sets and penta-valued logic. FP5 represents imprecise properties whose accomplished degree is undefined, contradictory or indeterminate for some objects. Basic operations of conjunction, disjunction and negation are introduced. Relations to other representation models like fuzzy sets, intuitioni...

In this paper we develop the general framework for text representation based on fuzzy set theory. This work is extended from our original ideas [5],[4], in which a document is represented by a set of fuzzy concepts. The importance degree of these fuzzy concepts characterize the semantics of documents and can be calculated by a specified aggregation function of

3. Distinguish between fuzziness as impreciseness (vagueness) and uncertainty as beliefs. The former deals with degrees of truth, the latter with degrees of (un) certainty. The main reason consists in the following: FL may be (and mostly is) truthfunctional; logics of belief are not. FL is a many-valued logic, logic of belief is a kind of modal logic. Caution: non-truth functional FLn is also p...

A simple probabilistic grounding of the ”fuzzy set membership degree” is presented, and used to provide definitions of the absolute and conditional probabilities of fuzzy sets. Among other possible applications, this allows fuzzy membership values to be coherently incorporated into probabilistic reasoning processes.

In this paper we introduce an algebraic fuzzy equation of degree n with fuzzy coefficients and crisp variable, and we present an iterative method to find the real roots of such equations, numerically. We present an algorithm to generate a sequence that can be converged to the root of an algebraic fuzzy equation. 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. MSC: 12E12; 39B22; 65H05

Abstract: The present paper is focusing on the order, size and degree of the nodes of the interval-valued fuzzy graphs, which are isomorphic. Isomorphism between Interval-valued fuzzy graphs is proved to be an equivalence relation, whereas the Weak isomorphism is proved to be a partial order. Few properties of interval valued fuzzy graphs, which are self complementary, are discussed.
