This paper addresses the question of what explains the relatively rapid diffusion of ‘Green Revolution’ technology in Punjab, versus the rest of India. To construct an answer, the paper reviews studies that have attempted to explain the pattern of rapid innovation in Punjab agriculture, and suggests that there is no single explanatory variable that stands out in comparing Punjab with other Indi...

In medical research analyses, continuous variables are often converted into categoric variables by grouping values into ≥2 categories. The simplicity achieved by creating ≥2 artificial groups has a cost: Grouping may create rather than avoid problems. In particular, dichotomization leads to a considerable loss of power and incomplete correction for confounding factors. The use of data-derived "...

in this study reference as one of the five cohesive devices in the achievement of textuality in english and persian narrative/descripitive written texts is focused on and analysed . to do so , the theoretical framework elaborated by halliday and hasan (1976) and its version adapted by the writer to match the sub-types of reference in farsi are applied to the analysis of reference in english and...

A weighted linear regression model with impercise response and p-real explanatory variables is analyzed. The LR fuzzy random variable is introduced and a metric is suggested for coping with this kind of variables. A least square solution for estimating the parameters of the model is derived. The result are illustrated by the means of some case studies.

This review introduces logistic regression, which is a method for modelling the dependence of a binary response variable on one or more explanatory variables. Continuous and categorical explanatory variables are considered.

abstract this study investigates the teachers’ correction of students’ spoken errors of linguistic forms in efl classes, aiming at (a) examining the relationship between the learners’ proficiency level and the provision of corrective feedback types, (b) exploring the extent to which teachers’ use of different corrective feedback types is related to the immediate types of context in which err...

nowadays enhancing critical thinking in learners is considered one of the foreign language teachers’ tasks due to its high position in foreign language classrooms. when it comes to selecting materials for language classrooms, there are obviously some criteria that teachers should apply. the present study aimed at a critical thinking based analysis of ten picture story books and ten folktales th...

In classical multiple linear regression analysis problems will occur if the regressors are either multicollinear or if the number of regressors is larger than the number of observations. In this note a new method is introduced which constructs orthogonal predictor variables in a way to have a maximal correlation with the dependent variable. The predictor variables are linear combinations of the...

China has encountered serious land loss problems along with urban expansion due to rapid urbanization. Without considering complicated spatiotemporal heterogeneity, previous studies could not extract urban transition rules at large scale well. This study proposed a random forest algorithm (RFA) based cellular automata (CA) model to simulate China's urban expansion and farmland loss in a fine sc...

Background Gray zone or infarct heterogeneity, defined as the admixture of necrotic and viable myocardium at the periphery of myocardial infarction (MI), has been noted to be a modulator of cardiac outcomes. Most studies have not reported a direct correlation between infarct core and the zone of heterogeneity. Furthermore, no large population based studies have examined the burden of undiagnose...
