When starting the software process improvement (SPI) journey, there are many SPI standards to select from. Selecting good SPI standards can be a technical problem, from a software engineering point of view, but it can also be a political problem, some standards fitting more with internal political agendas than others. As it is well-known that SPI without management commitment can have disastrou...

The majority of real-world problems encountered by engineers involve simultaneous optimization of competing objectives. In this case instead of single optima, there is a set of alternative trade-offs, generally known as Pareto-optimal solutions. The use of evolutionary algorithms Pareto GA, which was first introduced by Goldberg in 1989, has now become a sort of standard in solving Multiobjecti...

An evolutionarily stable strategy (ESS) was originally defined as a static concept but later given a dynamic characterization. A well known theorem in evolutionary game theory says that an ESS is an attractor of replicator dynamic but not every attractor is an ESS. We search for a dynamic characterization of ESSs in quantum games and find that in certain asymmetric bi-matrix games evolutionary ...

In bi-matrix games the Bishop-Cannings theorem of the classical evolutionary game theory does not permit pure evolutionarily stable strategies (ESSs) when a mixed ESS exists. We find the necessary form of twoqubit initial quantum states when a switch-over to a quantum version of the game also changes the evolutionary stability of a mixed symmetric Nash equilibrium. Evolutionary game theory has been expanded to many other areas than mere biological concept of evolution. Moreover, social networks determine definite interactions between individuals in social settings. The common nature of these two vast areas, has raised interest in applying evolutionary-game-theoretical approaches to social-networkbased problems. This survey paper attempts to explore and ro...

This paper presented a new particle swarm optimization based on evolutionary game theory (EPSO) for the traveling salesman problem (TSP) to overcome the disadvantages of premature convergence and stagnation phenomenon of traditional particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO). In addition ,we make a mapping among the three parts discrete particle swarm optimization (DPSO)、 evolutionary game the...

This chapter summarizes two main views on norms and games as emerging in literature on game theory, social science, philosophy and artificial intelligence. The first view originates in the field of mechanism design or implementation theory and characterizes norms as mechanisms enforcing desirable social properties in classes of games. According to the second view, originating from work in the s...

We investigate the role of quantum mechanical effects in the central stability concept of evolutionary game theory i.e. an Evolutionarily Stable Strategy (ESS). Using two and three-player symmetric quantum games we show how the presence of quantum phenomenon of entanglement can be crucial to decide the course of evolutionary dynamics in a population of interacting individuals.

Noncooperative game theory is one of a handful of fundamental frameworks used for economic modeling. It is therefore troubling that the solution concepts on which the theory’s predictions are based are not as firmly grounded as one might desire. For example, while Nash equilibrium is the starting point for most game theoretic analyses, the conditions on players’ rationality and knowledge needed...
