Introduction: Previous studies have proven that secretory materials of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) (secretome) remedial properties. Objectives: The main goal this study was to evaluate the effects secretome adipose-derived MSCs on growth and apoptosis in anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) C-643 cells. Materials Methods: Initially, were exposed 25 50 μg/mL (ADSCs) for 24 48 hours, proliferatio...

The electronic structure of the common intercalating agent ethidium bromide (3,8-diamino-5-ethyl-6-phenylphenanthridinium bromide) is dominated by an interplay of electron donating and withdrawing effects mediated by its nitrogen atoms. X-ray crystallography, UV/Vis and IR absorption, fluorescence emission, and NMR spectroscopy are used to probe the electronic properties of the phenanthridinium...

BACKGROUND, AIMS AND SCOPE Research and development has its own benefits and inconveniences. One of the inconveniences is the generation of enormous quantity of diverse toxic and hazardous wastes and its eventual contamination to soil and groundwater resources. Ethidium bromide (EtBr) is one of the commonly used substances in molecular biology experiments. It is highly mutagenic and moderately ...

Genes (ebrAB) responsible for ethidium resistance were cloned from chromosomal DNA of Bacillus subtilis ATCC 9372. The recombinant plasmid produced elevated resistance against ethidium bromide, acriflavine, pyronine Y, and safranin O not only in Escherichia coli but also in B. subtilis. It also caused an elevated energy-dependent efflux of ethidium in E. coli. EbrA and EbrB showed high sequence...

Endonuclease activity has been detected in association with highly purified virions, pentons, and/or dodecons of adenovirus types 2, 3, 5, 9, 12, 15, and 16. Only single-strand scissions in substrate DNA were detected. The nuclease activity was detected by a highly sensitive ethidium bromide fluorimetric assay procedure.

A new transfection reagent based on nucleoside phosphocholine amphiphile leading to high transfection efficacy and low cytotoxicity is described. TEM, ethidium bromide displacement assays, agarose gel electrophoresis and SAXS studies support the formation of lipoplexes for the transfection of CHO cells.

Ethidium bromide has been extended by fusing an additional aromatic ring resulting in a larger intercalator with increased affinity for poly r(A) x r(U), poly d(A) x d(T) and triple helices when compared to the parent heterocycle.

Temperate bacteriophages of Bacillus subtilis were characterized according to host range and digestion of the bacteriophage genome by endonuclease EcoRI. The three bacteriophages, phi3T, SPO2, and phi105, were all heteroimmune, and the DNA digests showed dissimilar patterns by agarose-ethidium bromide gel electrophoresis.

We have cocrystallized the drug ethidium bromide with the dinucleoside monophosphate 5-iodouridylyl(3'-5')adenosine and have solved the three-dimensional structure to atomic resolution by x-ray crystallography. This has allowed the direct visualization of intercalative binding by this drug to a fragment of a nucleic acid double helix.
