We study the dynamics and arrest of two coalescing sessile yield-stress drops. Surprisingly, we find that height bridge evolves similar to a Newtonian fluid. The arrested final coalesced shape is described by balance between capillary pressure yield stress, which predicted from viscoplastic lubrication theory.
Objective: Oral iron drops are recommended for children aged 6-24 months to prevent iron-deficiency anemia. However, their use is associated with the potential risk of erosion and microhardness reduction of primary teeth enamel due to their high acidity. It seems that the combination of silicone oil, nano-hydroxyapatite and chitosan powder may be able to improve the microhardness and surface ...
Average consensus consists in the problem of determining the average of some quantities by means of a distributed algorithm. It is a simple instance of problems arising when designing estimation algorithms operating on data produced by sensor networks. Simple solutions based on linear estimation algorithms have already been proposed in the literature and their performance has been analyzed in d...

We consider spectral optimization problems of the form min { λ1(Ω;D) : Ω ⊂ D, |Ω| = 1 } , where D is a given subset of the Euclidean space R. Here λ1(Ω;D) is the first eigenvalue of the Laplace operator −∆ with Dirichlet conditions on ∂Ω ∩D and Neumann or Robin conditions on ∂Ω ∩ ∂D. The equivalent variational formulation λ1(Ω;D) = min {∫
Objective: To present a geometric ruler to determine predictive values of binary diagnostic test results from prevalence, sensitivity and specificity without calculation. Methods: On logarithmic scale the relationships between pre-/post-test odds and the likelihood ratio as well as sensitivity, speci ficity and the likelihood ratio appear as simple linear (additive) equations. Results: Each of ...
