The purpose of this study was to evaluate the metal-ceramic bond strength (MCBS) of 6 metal-ceramic pairs (2 Ni-Cr alloys and 1 Pd-Ag alloy with 2 dental ceramics) and correlate the MCBS values with the differences between the coefficients of linear thermal expansion (CTEs) of the metals and ceramics. Verabond (VB) Ni-Cr-Be alloy, Verabond II (VB2), Ni-Cr alloy, Pors-on 4 (P), Pd-Ag alloy, and ...

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Contemporary pressable and computer-aided design/manufacturing (CAD/CAM) ceramics exhibit good mechanical and esthetic properties. Their wear resistance compared with human enamel and traditional gold based alloys needs to be better investigated. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the 2-body wear resistance of human enamel, gold alloy, and 5 differe...

Abstract Synthesis and sputtering of the Zr-2.5Nb alloys were performed for dental implant material candidate. The alloy was synthesized by casting process in an arc melting furnace with argon atmosphere composition Zr-2.5 Nb (wt %). Surface treatment carried out Ti-N current 20 Ampere 45 minutes. Characterization microstructure SEM-EDX test followed phase identification using XRD analysis. har...

The present study aimed to provide guidance for the selection of prosthodontic materials and the management of patients with a suspected metal allergy. This included a comparison of the sensitivity of patients to alloys used in prescribed metal‑containing prostheses, and correlation analysis between metal allergy and accompanying clinical symptoms of sensitized patients using a patch test. The ...

OBJECTIVE The aim of the present study was to analyze the soft tissue barrier formed to implant abutments made of different materials. MATERIAL AND METHODS Six Labrador dogs, about 1 year old, were used. All mandibular premolars and the first, second and third maxillary premolars were extracted. Three months later four implants (OsseoSpeed, 4.5 x 9 mm, Astra Tech Dental, Mölndal, Sweden) were...

Data from 14 independent controlled clinical trials on the oral behavior of Classes 1 and 2 amalgam restorations, with a follow-up between five and 15 years, were re-evaluated by secondary analysis for the influence of alloy composition on the survival of amalgam restorations. For the analysis, 3119 restorations were available, which were made from 24 different alloys by a group of seven operat...

PURPOSE We sought to further localize radioiodine activity in the mouth on post-thyroid cancer therapy imaging using single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT). MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed all patients (58) who underwent thyroid cancer therapy with iodine-131 (131I) at our institution from August 2009 to March 2011 whose post-therapy radioi...

We present a case study where we use automated formal analysis to reason about problem-frame concerns. The descriptions of the problem domains, machine and requirements are written in the Alloy language. We show that an evaluation of results and counterexamples provided by a model finder can reveal useful information that can help remove inconsistencies as well as composition errors.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of beryllium-free nickel-chromium (Ni-Cr) dental casting alloy before and after each porcelain firing cycle (once fired, twice fired, and thrice fired) and to relate these properties to the microstructural changes and changes in X-ray diffraction patterns of Ni-Cr alloy that occur after each porcelain firing cycle. MAT...

In this paper, we present the idea and development of a new gold-copper-zinc-germanium (AuCuZnGe) alloy, which is related to method production research its key properties, so that Au alloy could be used for jewelry in dental technology. The design was associated with determination appropriate chemical composition, manufacturing technology, performing characterization. Melting casting technologi...
