This paper introduces the impact of negative online reviews on consumers’ purchase intention from the dimension of the product information, namely tangible dimension and intangible dimension. By using the experimental method, this study analyzes the impact of product information, dimension of negative online reviews on purchase intention and the moderating role of product type. Results suggest ...

The VC-dimension plays an important role for the algorithmic problem of guarding art galleries efficiently. We prove that inside a simple polygon at most 5 points can be shattered by L1-visibility polygons and give an example where 5 points are shattered. The VCdimension is exactly 5. The proof idea for the upper bound is different from previous approaches.

This paper introduces a method for modification of the formula of the fractal box counting dimension. The method is based on the utilization of the probability distribution formula in the fractal box count. The purpose of this method is to use it for the discrimination of oil spill areas from the surrounding features e.g., sea surface and look-alikes in RADARSAT-1 SAR data. The result shows tha...

A first-order expansion of the R-vector space structure on R does not define every compact subset of every Rn if and only if topological and Hausdorff dimension coincide on all closed definable sets. Equivalently, if A ⊆ Rk is closed and the Hausdorff dimension of A exceeds the topological dimension of A, then every compact subset of every Rn can be constructed from A using finitely many boolea...

This paper deals with three resolving parameters: the metric dimension, the upper dimension and the resolving number. We first answer a question raised by Chartrand and Zhang asking for a characterization of the graphswith equalmetric dimension and resolving number. We also solve in the affirmative a conjecture posed by Chartrand, Poisson and Zhang about the realization of the metric dimension ...

phenomena in two dimensions. I spent most of the academic years 2013-2015 in Bonn, Germany (at the Max-Planck Institut and then the Hausdorff Center). In general, the Hausdorff dimension of a product is at least the sum of the dimensions of the two spaces. Does equality hold if one space is Euclidian? So let be. I find this discussion in Wikipedia very good: Fractal dimension Imagine a particul...

A very important property of a deterministic self-similar set is that its Hausdorff dimension and upper box-counting dimension coincide. This paper considers the random case. We show that for a random self-similar set, its Hausdorff dimension and upper box-counting dimension are equal a.s.

Moran’s Theorem is one of the milestones in Fractal Geometry. It allows the calculation of the similarity dimension of any (strict) self-similar set lying under the open set condition. Throughout a new fractal dimension we provide in the context of fractal structures, we generalize such a classical result for attractors which are required to satisfy no separation properties.

In this short paper we introduce a proper method to perform Korcak-analysis and obtain the correct Korcak-exponent on a set of patches, embedded into two-dimensions. Both artificial and natural data sets are used for the demonstration. The independence of the Korcak-exponent from the classical (Hausdorff) fractal dimension is also demonstrated. 2012 Elsevier B.V.
