Coronary-cameral fistula (CCF) is an anomalous connection between a coronary artery and a cardiac chamber or major vessel, seen in about 0.8% of the cases undergoing coronary angiography. Most patients are asymptomatic and diagnosis is made incidentally during coronary angiography. We present an image case of CCF which was found incidentally during pre-liver transplantation work up.

BACKGROUND Arterial calcium as measured by 64-slice computed tomography coronary angiography (64-CT) is a reliable predictor of cardiovascular disease risk. Lipid-rich plaques with lower degrees of calcification may pose greater risk for adverse coronary events than more stabilized calcified plaques as a result of the increased risk of plaque rupture, migration, and subsequent acute coronary sy...

Coronary magnetic resonance angiography (CMRA) allows a noninvasive assessment of the coronary anatomy without exposing the patients to radiation. It is also superior to coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) for the evaluation of luminal narrowing in heavily calcified coronary segments. We report a case with triple-vessel disease, but it could not be accurately assessed by CCTA becaus...

OBJECTIVES The current meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of hybrid cardiac imaging techniques compared with stand-alone coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) for assessment of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD). BACKGROUND The usefulness of coronary CTA for detecting obstructive CAD remains suboptimal at present. Myocardial perfusion imaging encompasse...

background: coronary angiography consists of the selective injection of contrast agents in coronary arteries. optimal strategy for heparin administration during coronary angiography has yet to be determined. we assessed the effect of heparin administration during coronary angiography on vascular, hemorrhagic, and ischemic complications. methods: five hundred candiates for diagnostic coronary an...

AIMS The metabolic syndrome (MS) is associated with an increased cardiovascular risk. Patients with the MS have endothelial dysfunction, decreased circulating adiponectin, and a high expression of angiogenic inhibitors such as plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1). We hypothesized that such patients, in the event of a coronary occlusion, might exhibit a less developed collateral circulation...

Introduction: Galectin-3 is known as a biomarker in patients with heart failure. This protein participates in different mechanisms involved in atherosclerosis including inflammation and plaque formation. This study was conducted to investigate whether this factor could be a predictive biomarker for the severity of atherosclerosis. Materials and Methods: The study group consisted of 80 patients ...

the acute coronary syndrome due to the left main coronary artery (lmca) thrombosis is a clinically rare and catastrophic event.   we describe a young man ( smoker, alcoholic, and drug abuser) with a history of recent surgery and typical chest pain who had non-occlusive lmca thrombosis in coronary angiography. the thrombosis was successfully treated with two 180 µ/kg intracoronary boluses of ept...

the balance between reactive oxygen species production and antioxidant activity has an important role in oxidative stress associated diseases including coronary artery disease. in this study, the prooxidant-antioxidant balance (pab) and its correlations with serum lipid levels, uric acid levels, and severity of coronary artery involvement were examined. the aim of this study was to determine th...

BACKGROUND Acute pancreatitis has different etiologies from biliary stone to metabolic disturbances. Coronary angiography is one of the newly understood etiologies. CASE REPORT This paper is about a women suffering from acute pancreatitis after coronary angiography. CONCLUSION Embolization of cholesterol crystals due to vessel wall trauma during coronary angiography as well as contrast medi...
