Introduction: Working length determination is one of the most important steps in the root canal therapy. Radiographs with suitable brightness are essential for the accurate working length determination. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of a lightening solution of radiographic film in root length determination. Methods: In this laboratory study, out of 18 maxillary mo...
This article describes a method for clarifying and sharpening radiographs. The method uses convolution with a computed tomography reconstruction kernel and a noise elimination procedure to control the noise amplification of the convolution. The effect is to flatten global variations and to sharpen and magnify local variations. Examples from industry and medicine are included.
Periapical lesions of endodontic origin may develop asymptomatically and become extensive. Treatment options to manage such lesions range from non-surgical root canal treatment and/or apical surgery to extraction. A high percentage of complete and partial healing of extensive perapical lesions following conventional endodontic therapy has been reported. The case reports in this article describe...
Dens invaginatus is a developmental dental anomaly clinically characterized by a palatine furrow that can be limited to the coronal pulp or may extend to the radicular apex. The purpose of this paper was to present a clinical case of type III dens invaginatus, identified on the maxillary right central incisor in anterior periapical radiographs, in which the tooth was submitted to conventional e...
Background and Aims: Conventional radiological equipments in our country are going to be converted to digital system using computed radiology (CR) technology. If we know the accuracy of digital panoramic radiography for detection of small defects in tooth, it will be useful in cases with difficulty for taking the intraoral radiographs. The aim of this study was to evaluate sensitivity and speci...
Due to the great number of structures in the maxillofacial region, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an important procedure in presurgical planning for removal of impacted teeth. Most of the information provided by this imaging technique cannot be visualized in conventional radiographs. In addition, CBCT reduces patient exposure to radiation in comparison with helical computed tomography ...
